Emeric Biaudis Joins I Want The Winner

Emeric Biaudis has joined the I Want The Winner team in the role of business development. Biaudis, who is from a family of Purebred Arabian and Thoroughbred breeders, has a Masters in Equine Science and Business (MESB) from the agricultural college of Dijon and a Masters in Sports Management. His role will entail participating in the development of the IWW platform, setting up new functionalities, corrections and adaptation of computer systems. In addition, he will also be in charge of identifying interesting Purebred Arabian profiles for the platform.

“I have been closely following the new platform and am delighted to be able to participate in its growth,” said Biaudis. “The digitization of the sector is an important turning point for the future. It facilitates both the transaction and the promotion of horses through the increased visibility. This saves time and money, without transport for horses or men.”

Reliable Man Colt Off The Mark in Premio Guido Berardelli

Ardakan (GB) (Reliable Man {GB}) had only faced the starter twice, good for a third in a Sept. 27 Munich seven-furlong affair and a second in a 10-furlong contest at Baden-Baden on Oct. 15, but he managed to break his maiden and earn a first black-type rosette in the G3 Premio Guido Berardelli at Capannelle.

The heavy going did not phase the grey and he perched in a tugging second shortly after the gates flew with Crystal Drake (Ity) (Full Drago {Ity}) leading the vanguard. Positions were largely unchanged as the field exited the turn and began to race up the lengthy stretch and the 5-2 chance had edged up to the leader's flank by the 600-metre mark. Switched off the rail, the Darius Racing colourbearer traded blows with Crystal Drake, before sticking his neck in front at the two pole. It was a cakewalk from there, as Ardakan burst away to win by six good-looking lengths. Crystal Drake stayed on gamely to keep second, a head in front of Wonka Willy (Ire) (Estidhkaar {Ire}), with that pair another four lengths clear of the remainder.

Pedigree Notes
The 17th black-type winner for his sire, Ardakan is also the 11th group winner. Reliable Man's stallion resume also features a trio of Group 1 winners-Miami Bound (NZ), Inspirational Girl (NZ), and Miss Sentimental (NZ)-all in the Southern Hemisphere.

Ardakan is the second stakes winner for German listed winner Alaskakonigin after Listed Diana Trial heroine Alaskasonne (Fr) (Soldier Hollow {GB}). The last known foal out of the gray is the weanling colt Abanos (GB) (Best Solution {Ire}).

Night of Thunder Filly Shines in Lydia Tesio

A winner last time out of the G3 Premio Verziere Mem Aldo Cirla, Sopran Basilea (Ire) (Night Of Thunder {Ire}) doubled her group-winning tally in the G2 Premio Lydia Tesio at Capannelle on Sunday.

Sent off at 6-1, the Grizzetti Galoppo trainee broke last and soon secured a position near the tail of the field in the heavy going as Eulaila (Ity) (Arcano {Ire}) led by open lengths. Saving ground against the fence, Sopran Basilea improved to midfield on the bend and was moving with a full head of steam in the lane. She pounced just inside the furlong mark and won going away by three-quarters of a length to favoured Eudaimonia (Fr) (Vision D'Etat {Fr}). It was a length back to Amazing Grace (Ger) (Protectionist {Ger}), who was a nose to the good of Cima Star (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}).

Off the mark in Milan on her second start in March, the chestnut ran second in a conditions race there one month on. She captured the Listed Premio Mario Incisa della Rocchetta there on May 21, but was unplaced in the G2 Premio Oaks d'Italia (Italian Oaks) on June 6. Given some time off, Sopran Basilea returned to run third in a local conditions heat on Sept. 12 and ran out a one-length winner in the Verziere Mem Aldo Cirla on Oct. 12.

Pedigree Notes

Night of Thunder has 24 stakes winners to his credit, and Sopran Basilea is one of 14 at group level. Thundering Nights (Ire) and Kukeracha (NZ) are his pair of top-level winners.

Although unplaced, Kathy Best has left 10 foals so far, with five of them winners and Sopran Basilea is the best of the lot. Kathy Best is a half-sister to Italian Group 3 winners Kathy Dream (Ire) (Arcano {Ire}) and Kathy College (Ire) (College Chapel {GB}), and the stakes winner Kathy Pekan (Ire) (Sri Pekan).
