A new incentive for point-to-point graduates in the 2021/22 season, the bonus applies to 4-, 5-, and 6-year olds sold by the company with the first applicable sale the Dec. 19 Christmas Sale. To qualify for the bonus, horses must not have run in any race other than a British or Irish sanctioned point-to-point steeplechase or point-to-point bumpers and the subsequent win under rules, hunter chases excluded, must fall within 12 months of the date of the ThoroughBid sale in which the horse was sold.

Djelo Tops Auctav November Sale

The winning 3-year-old gelding Djelo (Fr) (Montmartre {Fr}) brought a sale-topping €140,000 from bloodstock agent Guy Petit during the Auctav November Sale on Wednesday. Offered as lot 1bis by Ecurie Augustin de Boisbrunet, the bay won at Nancy and is going to trainer Venetia Williams. Petit was also in action for lot 3bis, Zopito (Fr) (No Risk At All {Fr}), who was consigned by Jerome Delaunay. Placed on debut, he made €55,000 and will be trained by Stuart Coltherd. For the full results, please visit the Auctav website.

“This last sale of the year almost felt like our very first sale,” said Auctav Managing Director Arnaud Angeliaume. “We are delighted with the great sale of Djelo. We could see that the Auctav concept had really been successful because of its flexibility between monthly sales, wild cards and flash sales. We had a lot of customers connected during this session and a lot of

bidding that went into extra time, especially for Djelo's wild card which reached €140,000.

“The Auctav app, launched this week, had its first test. It worked well in real time and we are really very happy with this innovation which will further facilitate the customer experience.”

Following more Classic success, this time with his son Efforia (Jpn) in 2021, Epiphaneia (Jpn) (Symboli Kris S)'s fee has increased to ¥18,000,000 (£117,174/€139,172/$156,021), tops of the Shadai Stallion Station 2022 roster. The 11-year-old also celebrated group winners Aristoteles (Jpn) and Circle of Life (Jpn). Lord Kanaloa (Jpn) (King Kamehameha {Jpn}), the sire of Japanese Horse of the Year Almond Eye (Jpn), remains at ¥15,000,000. Kizuna (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn})'s fee has been raised to ¥12,000,000 on the back of 11 2021 black-type winners including G1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup heroine Akai Ito (Jpn). Another Shadai stallion to see his fee increase is Drefong (Gio Ponti), who will stand for ¥7,000,000, after his Geoglyph (Jpn) won the G3 Sapporo Nisai S. and he had another pair of runners gain black-type placings.

A trio of exciting newcomers will cover their first mares at Shadai in 2022–2020 Japanese Triple Crown winner Contrail (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}), G1 2000 Guineas hero Poetic Flare (Ire) (Dawn Approach {Ire}), and 2019 Japanese Champion Dirt Horse and G1 Champions Cup winner Chrysoberyl (Jpn) (Gold Allure {Jpn}). Fees for Poetic Flare and Chrysoberyl have been set at Â¥6,000,000 and Â¥3,000,000, respectively. Contrail's fee will be announced after his run in Sunday's G1 Japan Cup.

Responsible for the G1 Victoria Derby victor Hitotsu (Aus), Maurice (Jpn) (Screen Hero {Jpn})'s fee has been reduced to ¥7,000,000. That is the same price that Japanese Classic winners Rey de Oro (Jpn) (King Kamehameha {Jpn}) and Saturnalia (Jpn) (Lord Kanaloa {Jpn}) will command, with the former having first yearlings in 2022 and the latter welcomes his first foals next year. 2019 U.S. Horse of the Year Bricks and Mortar (Giant's Causeway), whose first foals are yearlings in 2022, will hold court for ¥6,000,000. The last son of Sunday Silence on the Shadai roster, Daiwa Major (Jpn), will stand for a private fee.

Grocer Jack And Chipotle Join Haggas

Three horses who recently changed hands for six-figure sums at the Tattersalls Horses-in-Training Sale have joined William Haggas's stable for Prince Faisal Bin Khaled's Najd Stud.

The trio is led by sale-topper and dual Group 3 winner Grocer Jack (Ger) (Oasis Dream {GB}), who was bought for 700,000gns from owner/breeder Dr Christoph Berglar.

“His second place in Group 1 company was behind Skalleti (Fr), who himself has good form behind Addeybb (Ire) last season,” said Haggas. “Grocer Jack was also third in the German Derby as a 3-year-old behind former Arc runner-up In Swoop (Ire) and this year's Arc winner Torquator Tasso (Ger), so he is clearly a high-class individual. He has settled into the way of life at Somerville Lodge very smoothly and has begun cantering as he builds up to what will hopefully be a very exciting campaign. He has possibilities all over the world and could head to Saudi Arabia or Dubai to get his season underway. He also has a host of races open to him in the UK over 10 and 12 furlongs so hopefully he can get a much deserved victory at the highest level.”

Chipotle (GB) (Havana Gold {Ire}), a consistent and classy juvenile this season for Eve Johnson Houghton with wins in the Brocklesby S. on debut, followed by listed success in the Windsor Castle S. and Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy, has also joined the Haggas team. He could also make his first start of 2022 in his owner's home country of Saudi Arabia before targeting sprints in Europe during next summer.

Completing the set is the lightly-raced Shadwell 2-year-old Laatansa (Fr) (New Bay {GB}), who has moved from Ed Dunlop's stable having been bought for 250,000gns with a rating of 83.
