Equine MediRecord Secures Investment To Expand Business

Equine MediRecord has closed an investment with the Chicago-based private equity firm Merit Holdings for an undisclosed eight-figure amount to drive adoption of its equine welfare and anti-doping platform in Europe, North America and the Middle East, the company announced early Thursday morning. A plan is also in the works to expand the equine technology company's growth and operations team. The investment comes from Merit Holdings through their Inova Group Holdings platform, which also previously acquired Business Infusions, the largest equine veterinary software group in the world.

“It's great to be supported by Inova Group and Business Infusions and that they believe in our goal to promote equine welfare and anti-doping best practices by driving adoption of our Equine MediRecord platform',” said Pierce Dargan, who founded the company with Simon Hillary and Finlay Dargan in 2016. “This funding will help us bring our platform to more horse farms and equine events ensuring equine welfare best practices are being adopted in Europe, North America, the Middle East and beyond.”

Pegasus World Cup Partners With Equine MediRecord To Digitize Veterinary Records Ahead Of Race

1/ST, owners of the Pegasus World Cup, announced Jan. 24 a partnership with Irish technology company Equine MediRecord to digitize veterinary records for this year's event. This added measure will enhance the stringent equine health and safety protocols that will be in place for the race at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, Jan. 29.

The Equine MediRecord platform that will be used for the 2022 Pegasus World Cup allows for the full veterinary history of the horse to be collected digitally and recorded securely. Use of this innovative platform will be mandatory and will provide all entrants, trainers and veterinarians with a user-friendly system to comply with the strict medication protocols for this year's event. Integrity of the veterinary information will be ensured using the unique algorithms found in the Equine MediRecord technology. Once the records are entered into the system they cannot be altered. Results are submitted digitally to designated regulators and officials ensuring the highest level of integrity and transparency of veterinary records.

Equine MediRecord Secures Contract With JCSA

Equine MediRecord, a Kildare-based software platform, has secured a long-term contract with the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia (JCSA). An Irish trade delegation traveled to the JCSA to announce the news. The platform will support the $20-million G1 Saudi Cup, which was elevated to Group 1 status for the first time in 2022.

Horse Welfare And Anti-Doping Technology To Be Used At 2021 Breeders’ Cup

With the new Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act (HISA) in place, racing industry leaders in the United Stares have continued to embrace sweeping reforms. One of the most recent changes will be the use of Kildare-based Equine MediRecord's (EMR) revolutionary anti-doping and horse welfare software at the Breeders' Cup World Championships at Del Mar.

The agreement is the latest notch in the belt of a company that launched its system just three years ago, but has already amassed an impressive list of clients including the Thoroughbred Owners of California, Irish Veterinary and Welfare Commission, Irish Harness Racing Association, Kentucky Thoroughbred Association and the Arabian Racing Organization. EMR first provided their system to the Breeders' Cup World Championships at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Ky., last year. With the event moving to California's Del Mar Racecourse and falling under the supervision of the California Horse Racing Board, EMR has developed a new system to comply with this year's rules and regulations pertaining to equine welfare and anti-doping protocols.

The new system EMR has developed for the Breeders' Cup World Championships will automatically inform trainers from across the world of the safety and integrity regulations that need to be followed and what documents need to be submitted through the system to allow horses to run in the Breeders' Cup at Del Mar.
