Half-Sister To Masar Graduates At Newmarket

Godolphin homebred Sayyida (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), a half-sister to G1 Epsom Derby hero Masar (Ire) (New Approach {Ire}), shed her maiden tag with a 2 1/2-length success in her seasonal return at Newmarket on Saturday.

6th-Newmarket, £8,050, Nov, 5-15, 3yo, f, 12fT, 2:36.84, gd.
SAYYIDA (GB) (f, 3, Dubawi {Ire}–Khawlah {Ire} {Hwt. 3yo-UAE at 7-9.5f, MGSW-UAE & GSP-Eng, $1,366,175}, by Cape Cross {Ire}), who bettered a debut fifth at this venue with a Sept. 30 last-out second over an extended mile at Nottingham, tracked the leaders in fourth for most of this sophomore bow. Rowed along to close approaching the three-furlong marker, the 4-1 chance seized control with 1 1/2 furlongs remaining and kept on strongly under continued rousting thereafter to outpoint Mellow Magic (GB) (Nathaniel {Ire}) by 2 1/2 lengths. Sayyida becomes the second scorer from as many runners for G2 UAE Derby and G3 UAE Oaks heroine Khawlah (Ire) (Cape Cross {Ire}) and is thus a half-sister to G1 Epsom Derby-winning sire Masar (Ire) (New Approach {Ire}). She is also kin to a 2-year-old colt by New Approach (Ire), a yearling filly by the same sire and a colt foal by Too Darn Hot (GB). Khawlah is a half-sister to G2 Prix Guillaume d'Ornano victor and G1 Jebel Hatta runner-up Vancouverite (GB) (Dansili {GB}) while the next dam is stakes-winning G1 Epsom Oaks and G1 Irish Oaks placegetter Melikah (Ire) (Lammtarra) herself a daughter of storied matriarch Urban Sea (Miswaki). Alain and Gerard Wertheimer's homebred 3-year-old filly Goldistyle (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}), the sixth of seven surviving foals out of MG1SW superstar Goldikova (Ire) (Anabaa), shed maiden status at the second attempt when getting up late to narrowly deny Teruya Yoshida's homebred Sentimental Mambo (GB) (Deep Impact {Jpn}), herself a daughter of MG1SW distaffer Stacelita (Fr) (Monsun {Ger}), in Friday's Prix de la Prairie over one mile at Chantilly.
