Top International Pedigrees Highlight Three Latest Entries To Fasig-Tipton November Sale

Fasig-Tipton has added three more supplemental entries to its upcoming November Sale. All three entries will be consigned by Denali Stud, agent for the Estate of Michael Baum:

Bye Bye Baby (Hip 268): Young daughter of Galileo was a group stakes winner at three and classic placed in the Group 1 Investec Oaks. She was also a stakes winner and group stakes placed at two. She is a full sister to four stakes winners, three of which are group stakes winners, and include G1 Investec Derby winner Serpentine. Her dam, who also placed in the G1 Epsom Oaks, is a half-sister to European champions Dylan Thomas and Queen's Logic. Bye Bye Baby is in foal to Tapit, North America's all-time leading sire by progeny earnings.

2021 War Front x Bye Bye Baby colt (Hip 269): Weanling colt by War Front out of group stakes winning Galileo mare Bye Bye Baby. War Front, already the sire of eight champions and 23 Grade 1 winners, has crossed well with Galileo mares. That cross has produced Grade 1 winners U S Navy Flag, Fog of War, and Roly Poly.
Ivyetsu (Hip 270): Daughter of Tapit was a winner at two and graded stakes placed at three, narrowly beaten in the G3 Sweetest Chant Stakes at Gulfstream by the likes of Micheline and Cheermeister. She is a half-sister to French group stakes winner Last Kingdom and to the dam of Dubai Honour, a multiple group stakes winner in France this year. Most recently, Dubai Honour finished second in the G1 QIPCO Champion Stakes at Ascot. This 4-year-old filly is catalogued as a broodmare prospect.

These entries may now be viewed online and will also be available in the equineline sales catalogue app. Printed versions of the supplemental catalog will be available on the sales grounds at sale time.

The Fasig-Tipton November Sale will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 9 in Lexington, Ky., and begins at 2 p.m.

Internationally Connected Trio Supplemented to F-T November

Three horses with international pedigree appeal have been added to the upcoming Fasig-Tipton November Sale. Each will be consigned by Denali Stud on behalf of the Estate of Michael Baum. The owner of Man O' War Farm passed away Aug. 31.

Bye Bye Baby (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) will be offered as hip 268. The 6-year-old daughter of 2010 G1 Epsom Oaks runner-up Remember When (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}) was Group 3 placed at two and won the 2018 G3 Blue Wind S. before finishing third in the G1 Investec Oaks. Bye Bye Baby, a full-sister to G1 Investec Derby hero Serpentine (Ire) and to GSWs Wedding Vow (Ire) and Beacon Rock (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), sells in foal to Tapit.

Bye Bye Baby's weanling colt by War Front follows her into the ring. The cross of War Front over Galileo mares is responsible for the likes of Group 1 winners U S Navy Flag, Fog of War and Roly Poly.

Ivyetsu (Tapit) is cataloged as hip 270 to the 'Night of the Stars.' Campaigned by the Baums with trainer Rusty Arnold, the bay filly broke her maiden at second asking and was a close third when making her turf debut in the GIII Sweetest Chant S. in early 2019. The 4-year-old is a half-sister to GSW Last Kingdom (Frankel {GB}) and to the dam of Dubai Honour (Ire) (Pride of Dubai {Aus}), recent runner-up in the G1 QIPCO British Champion S. at Ascot.

Preakness Winner Swiss Skydiver Getting Time Off, Will Be Offered At Fasig-Tipton November Sale

Swiss Skydiver, 2020 Eclipse Award champion 3-year-old filly, is getting time off and will be offered for sale at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale by Runnymede Farm, agent.

“It's been an honor to train her over the last three years,” said Kenny McPeek. “She's sound and healthy. Her owner Peter Callahan and I thought she deserved a little rest from racing. She's a classy filly, a sincere pleasure. She has the heart of a true champion and gave her all. She's an exceptional horse – one of those rare horses you don't see very often.”

Swiss Skydiver's win over Authentic in the 2020 Preakness was the pinnacle of her racing career, cementing her award for the 2020 Eclipse Award for champion 3-year-old filly. She won a battle in the stretch over Kentucky Derby winner Authentic to beat the colts. It was the second-fastest Preakness Stakes, finishing in 1:53.10 – only .10 seconds off Secretariat's 1973 record. Her Preakness victory will be remembered as one of the most memorable in Thoroughbred racing. Not only does she join the exclusive list of six fillies to ever win the Preakness, she tops this remarkable list of fillies as the fastest.

Other career highlights include victories in The 2020 Grade 1 Alabama Stakes and The 2021 G1 Beholder Mile winning both impressively by easily running away in the stretch.

“It's the right time to let her move into her next chapter” said owner Peter Callahan. “A once-in-a-lifetime horse, she gave me and my family everything we could have possibly dreamed of and more, the biggest thrills we've had in this business so far. I just can't say enough good things about her. We're looking forward to seeing great things from Swiss Skydiver in her next chapter.”

Two other McPeek-trained fillies – Crazy Beautiful and Simply Ravishing – will also be offered for sale at The November Sale's Night of Stars. Crazy Beautiful, a multiple graded stakes-winning filly with earnings of $709,863, will be sold by Denali Stud, agent. The winner of the 2020 G1 Alcibiades Stakes, Simply Ravishing, will be offered by Gainesway, agent.

Don’t Leave Me Tops Pin Oak Dispersal At Fasig-Tipton

Nearly 70 years of careful breeding and racing success – a lifelong passion of Pin Oak Stud's Ms. Josephine Abercrombie – were on display Sunday evening at Newtown Paddocks in Lexington, Ky. A selection of Pin Oak's remaining broodmares, weanlings, and race fillies were offered without reserve by Denali Stud as agent.

The sale topper came in the form of Don't Leave Me (Hip 18), a 9-year-old graded stakes winning daughter of Lemon Drop Kid. Woodford Thoroughbreds purchased the mare, who was offered in foal to Horse of the Year Authentic, for $650,000 (video).

Don't Leave Me is out of Grade 1 winner See How She Runs, and has produced two foals to date, including I'm So Sorry (Uncle Mo), who is placed in one start this year at two, and a weanling filly by Medaglia d'Oro (Hip 19). The latter preceded her dam into the ring, and was purchased by Rigney Racing for $370,000, the top price paid for a weanling during the sale (video).

“We started showing Saturday morning,” said Denali Stud's Craig Bandoroff. “They were here at quarter to eight, and her 23 horses showed 1,056 times… [w]e were hoping that the community would appreciate the quality of the offerings and the quality of Ms. Abercrombie and Clifford's lifetime work, and they did. It was gratifying.”

Point System (Hip 5), a seven-year-old stakes winner by Pin Oak's own Broken Vow, sold for $420,000 to Shepherd Equine Advisors, agent from Larry Hirsch (video).

The second highest price of the evening, Point System was offered in foal to Eclipse champion Improbable. To date, Point System is represented by a yearling colt by Candy Ride (ARG).

Late in the session, Eaton Sales took home multiple Grade 1 placed stakes winner Gold Medal Dancer (Hip 23) for $400,000 (video). The 11-year-old daughter of Medaglia d'Oro is represented by Dance Recital, a winner this year at 4, as well as an unstarted 2-year-old in Dance Routine, and a weanling colt by Candy Ride (ARG).

“This has been her baby for 60-plus years,” added longtime Pin Oak Stud farm manager Clifford Barry of Abercrombie. “It's kind of nice to coming in tonight and showcase… [T]here are mares here today she's got three, four generations of. Very, very proud of her.”

Of three racing and/or broodmare prospects on offer, Fascination (Hip 20) took the top spot, selling for $185,000 to Harbut Bloodstock. A daughter of two-time and current leading sire Into Mischief, Fascination placed third in her debut this year at three. Her dam, Whimiscality (Hip 10), in foal to Collected, sold earlier in the session to BBA Ireland for $200,000.

All told, 23 horses sold for $3,999,000, good for an average of $173,870 and a median of $130,000.
