Saturday's Cross Country Pick 5 featuring action from Belmont, Woodbine, and Delaware Park paid $373.25 for selecting all five winners for the 50-cent wager. The total pool was $112,680.

Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ontario started the sequence, as the favorite Belichick bested Tecumseh's War by a head to win a 1 1/16-mile allowance tilt over the all-weather track in Race 7. Trained by Josie Carroll and ridden by Kazushi Kimura, Belichick returned $3.30 on a $2 win bet, completing the course in 1:44.40.

Belmont hosted the second leg, with Wolfie's Dynaghost going gate-to-wire to win an allowance optional claiming race going 1 1/16 miles in Race 8. Moved off the turf to the main track, the race saw the Tom Albertrani trained Wolfie's Dynaghost, a half-brother to stablemate Sadler's Joy, hit the wire in 1:43.17 paying $10.80. Jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. was in the irons.

Delaware Park in Wilmington, De. hosted the first stakes of the wager as heavy favorite Crazy Beautiful won the $300,000 Grade 3 Delaware Oaks for sophomore fillies going 1 1/16 miles on the main track in Race 8. The Ken McPeek trainee, ridden by Hall of Famer Mike Smith, cruised to a six-length win in a final time of 1:46.33. Crazy Beautiful returned $2.60.

Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y. also got in on the stakes action, as Truth Hurts topped a pared-down four-horse field in the $100,000 Perfect Sting for fillies and mares 4-years-old and up in Race 9. Originally scheduled for one mile on the turf, the contest was moved to the main track due to heavy rain. Truth Hurts, entered by trainer and co-owner Chad Summers for the main track only, capitalized on the opportunity winning by 5 3/4 lengths over Piedi Bianchi in a final time of 1:37.48. With Luis Saez picking up the mount, Truth Hurts won her first race of her 4-year-old campaign, paying $18.

Advocating edged Tappitty Tappitty by a neck in the finale a 1 1/16-mile turf allowance optional claimer, in Race 9 at Woodbine to conclude the wager. Trained by Michael Stidham and ridden by Gary Boulanger, Advocating hit the wire in 1:44.69 and paid $8.30.

The New York Racing Association Inc. [NYRA] will host a Cross Country Pick 5 on Saturday featuring racing action from Belmont Park, Woodbine Racetrack and Delaware Park.

Saturday's sequence kicks off in Race 7 at 4:21 p.m. Eastern with a 1 1/16-mile allowance event for 3-year-olds and up on the Woodbine Tapeta.

A talented field of 11 will see the 2020 Coronation Futurity-winner Stephen commence his path to the Queen's Plate for trainer Kevin Attard against a group of older horses led by the Josie Carroll-trained Belichick, who finished second in last year's Queen's Plate in September ahead of a four-length score in the Breeders' in October at Woodbine, the third and final leg of the Canadian Triple Crown.

Action switches to Belmont for the second leg [Race 8, 4:40 p.m.], a 1 1/16-mile optional-claiming event on the inner turf for sophomores featuring the grass debut of Woodslane Farm's Wolfie's Dynaghost, a half-brother to multiple graded stakes winning turf specialist Sadler's Joy. A deep field of contenders includes the graded-stakes placed Shawdyshawdyshawdy, who finished third last out in the off-the-turf Grade 3 Pennine Ridge; and the stakes-placed Space Launch, the third-place finisher in the Awad in October over yielding turf at Belmont.

The middle leg begins the stakes portion of the sequence with the Grade 3, $300,000 Delaware Oaks [Race 8, 4:45 p.m.], a 1 1/16-mile test for sophomore fillies topped by 6-5 morning-line favorite Crazy Beautiful for trainer Kenny McPeek. The Liam's Map gray captured the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Oaks in March and last out won the Grade 2 Summertime Oaks on May 30 at Santa Anita Park.

The penultimate leg will mark the seasonal debut of Juddmonte Farms' Viadera in the $100,000 Perfect Sting [Race 9, 5:12 p.m.], a one-mile Widener turf test for older fillies and mares at Belmont. Trained by four-time Eclipse Award-winner Chad Brown, Viadera won 3-of-4 starts last year, including a nose score in the Grade 1 Matriarch last out in November at Del Mar.

Closing out the sequence is a 1 1/16-mile optional-claiming event [Race 9, 5:22 p.m.] for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up on the E.P. Taylor Turf Course at Woodbine. Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse sends out a trio of contenders in multiple graded stakes placed Art of Almost [21-3-5-5, $239,448], the improving Tappitty Tappitty [9-2-3-1, $98,246] and the consistent Preferred Guest [17-3-5-3, $232,809].

All-Stakes Cross Country Pick 5 Pays $803

Saturday's all-stakes Cross Country Pick 5 featuring action from Belmont Park in Elmont, Ny., Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky., and Thistledown in North Randall, Oh. paid $803.25 for selecting all five winners for the 50-cent wager. The total pool was $206,425.

Graded stakes action commenced the sequence when Double Thunder, at 4-1, won the Grade 3, $150,000 Bashford Manor for juveniles going six furlongs on the main track in Churchill's Race 9. The Hall of Fame duo of trainer Todd Pletcher and jockey John Velazquez teamed for another score, as Double Thunder posted a 4 3/4-length victory and paid $10.20 on a $2 win wager. Pletcher saw his charge complete the course in a final time of 1:11.17.

Thistledown took center stage in the second leg as the favorite Masqueparade bested King Fury by a half-length to win the $500,000 Grade 3 Ohio Derby for 3-year-olds going 1 1/8 miles on the main track in Race 9. Trainer Al Stall, Jr. won the prestigious race with Masqueparade, under rider Miguel Mena, hit the wire in 1:50.82. The winner paid $6.40.

Belmont Park got in on the act in Race 9 when Runaway Rumour made a furious late bid from the outside before finishing strong in a half-length victory in the $100,000 Wild Applause Stakes for 3-year-old fillies going one mile on the Widener turf course. Jockey Luis Cardenas earned his first career stakes win, with the Jorge Abreu trainee paying $29. Runaway Rumour improved to 3-for-3 in her career, completing the course in 1:34.25.

Churchill Downs hosted the last two legs, starting with Set Piece's half-length win in the $300,000 Grade 2 Wise Dan Stakes for 4-year-olds and up going 1 1/16 miles on the turf in Race 10. Set Piece, trained by Brad Cox and ridden by Florent Geroux, returned $5.40 as the favorite. Set Piece, who was last-of-10 a half-mile in, rallied to post a final time of 1:40.50.

Maxfield, another favorite, concluded the sequence with a 3 1/4-length win in the $600,000 Grade 2 Stephen Foster in Race 11. Conditioned by Brendan Walsh with jockey Jose Ortiz shipping in to ride at Churchill for the day, Maxfield tracked in sixth position on the backstretch in the 1 1/8-mile race on the dirt before having plenty in reserve for the stretch run, registering a final time of 1:48.53. Maxfield paid $2.80.

The sequence kicks off in Race 9 at Churchill Downs at 4:55 p.m. with a field of 11 juveniles sprinting six furlongs on the main track. Double Thunder, trained by Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher, boasts the field's highest Beyer Speed Figure garnering a 60 when sprinting to a debut win on June 5 at Monmouth Park. Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen will saddle a pair of contenders led by maiden winner Red Run and maiden Vodka N Water.

Action switches to Thistledown for the second leg as 11 sophomores do battle in the nine-furlong Grade 3, $500,000 Ohio Derby [Race 9, 5:04 p.m.] The Pletcher-trained Promise Keeper, last out winner of the Grade 3 Peter Pan at Belmont, is listed as the 7-2 morning-line favorite. The experienced Keepmeinmind, trained by Robertino Diodoro, competed in two legs of the Triple Crown, closing to finish seventh in the Grade 1 Kentucky Derby and fourth in the Grade 2 Preakness.

The middle leg will offer the $100,000 Wild Applause [Race 9, 5:12 p.m.], a one-mile Widener turf test for sophomore fillies from Belmont. Four-time Eclipse Award-winning trainer Chad Brown will saddle a formidable pair in Group 3-winner Minaun and the improving Nevisian Sunrise. Offering steep opposition are the Grade 1-place Alda for trainer Graham Motion and the regally-bred Lovestruck, a half-sister to Scat Daddy, for Hall of Famer Bill Mott.

The final two legs of the sequence will come from the Closing Day card at Churchill Downs beginning with the Grade 2, $300,000 Wise Dan [Race 10, 5:26 p.m.], a 1 1/16-mile turf test for older horses led by the multiple graded stakes winning New York-bred Somelikeithotbrown for trainer Mike Maker. Hall of Famer Mark Casse will send out eight-time winner Ride a Comet in search of a fourth graded-stakes score.

Closing out the sequence is the nine-furlong Grade 2, $600,000 Stephen Foster [Race 11, 5:59 p.m.] for older horses at Churchill Downs. A talented field of nine is led by Godolphin homebred Maxfield, a multiple graded stakes winner who boasts six wins from seven starts.
