Fasig-Tipton Announces COVID-19 Safety Protocols for Kentucky October Yearling Sale & November Sale

In advance of the upcoming Kentucky October Yearling Sale and The November Sale in Lexington, KY, Fasig-Tipton has announced the following COVID-19 protocols will be in place in accordance with Kentucky regulations:

-Screening measures, including temperature checks and health screening questions, will be in place to gain admittance to the sales grounds for all staff, participants and attendees;
-Cloth face coverings are required in accordance with U.S. CDC recommendations;
-Participants will not be allowed to congregate. At least six feet of distance must be maintained between people;
-Limited seating capacity in the sales pavilion;
-Walk up food service only will be available on the sales grounds;
-Valet parking will not be available;
-Increased cleaning and disinfection procedures will be implemented with regular sanitation of high touch surfaces at least every two hours;
-Frequent hand washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds is recommended for all attendees;
The health and safety of sale participants is of paramount importance. These guidelines are intended as a supplement to assist with safe operations during the COVID-19 pandemic and are subject to change.

The Kentucky October Yearling Sale will be held on Monday through Thursday, Oct. 26-29, in Lexington, KY. The November Sale will be held Sunday, Nov. 8 in Lexington, KY.

Keeneland Announces COVID-19 Protocols For November Sale

Keeneland's COVID-19 protocols for the November Sale will remain consistent with the September Yearling Sale with a few adjustments as a result of the Breeders' Cup. Please make note of these key items:

  • Access to the Keeneland grounds will be limited to credentialed sales participants. Credentials may be requested through the Virtual Badge app as you did in September. Please re-apply for your credential for the November Sale from Oct. 28 onward, and note that credentials from the September Sale will not carry over to November.
  • COVID-19 testing will again be required for all consignors, veterinarians, farriers, media, Keeneland employees and essential staff within 10 days of your first entry to the grounds. Keeneland will provide testing at various dates for your convenience. Buyers are not required to receive a COVID-19 test but will pass through a daily health screening at the gates. Testing dates are as follows:
    • Oct. 28-29 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    • November 2-3 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • On Breeders' Cup event days (Nov. 6-7), a parking credential will be required to access the grounds in addition to your November Sale Virtual Badge credential. Keeneland will be in contact with buyers and sellers in the coming days to provide instructions on how to request these parking credentials.

Keeneland Releases November Sale COVID-19 Protocols

To ensure the health and safety of participants, Keeneland has released its protocols surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic for its November sale, which will be held Nov. 9-18. Many of the protocols will be similar to the ones in place for the Keeneland September sale, but a few adjustments have been made in light of the Breeders’ Cup being held on the grounds Nov. 6-7. Requirements are as follows:

  • Access to the grounds is limited to credentialed attendees only. Credentials are accessible from the Virtual Badge app beginning Oct. 28. Those who had a credential in September must reapply, as they will not carry forward.
  • Proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 10 days of first entry onto the Keeneland grounds is required for all consignors and their staff, as well as for veterinarians, farriers, media, van representatives, Keeneland staff, and any other essential employees. Keeneland will provide on-site testing for any credentialed sales participants Oct. 28-29 and Nov. 2-3, although a negative test from elsewhere will also suffice.
  • Buyers, owners, and agents will not be required to show proof of a negative COVID test, but will be required to complete a health questionnaire and have a daily temperature check.
  • All participants are required to wear a face covering and maintain social distancing at all times.
  • On the days of the Breeders’ Cup, a parking credential is required in addition to the Virtual Badge credential.

Fasig-Tipton Releases Safety Protocols for California Sale

Fasig-Tipton has released safety protocols for the upcoming California Fall Yearling Sale, which will be held Monday, Oct. 19, at Los Alamitos. All of Fasig-Tipton’s COVID-19 safety protocols are in accordance with California regulations, are subject to change, and are designed in the interest of the health and safely of sales participants. The safety protocols include:

  • Temperature checks and health screening questions will be required for admittance for all staff, participants, and attendees
  • Cloth face coverings are required
  • A minimum of six feet must be maintained between people with no congregating allowed
  • No indoor food service will be available
  • No valet parking will be available
  • High-touch surfaces will be sanitized at least every two hours with increased cleaning and disinfection throughout
  • Frequent hand washing with both soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds is recommended
