Coltimus Prime to Maryland’s Shamrock Farm

Canadian Classic winner Coltimus Prime (Milwaukee Brew–Certainly Special, by Distorted Humor), who has a small crop of Canadian-bred yearlings on the ground from his time at Beau Valley Stable in Alberta, will stand at Shamrock Farm in Maryland for the upcoming breeding season. His fee will be $1,500, with “special arrangements offered to qualifying mares,” per Jim Steele, Shamrock's farm manager.

Coltimus Prime won the 2014 Prince of Wales S. and was continuing to win or place in black-type events in the US. and Panama through the 2018 season. He was named champion imported older horse and champion stayer in Panama in 2017. The 12-year-old hails from the family of 1992 Canadian Broodmare of the Year Ballade, his fifth dam.

‘Curious And Friendly’: First Foal Is A Colt For Canadian Classic Winner Coltimus Prime

The first reported foal by graded stakes-placed and dual-continent classic winner Coltimus Prime (Milwaukee Brew – Certainly Special, by Distorted Humor) arrived on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Beau Valley Stable in Didsbury, Alberta.

The colt, bred by Anthony Bilotta, is out of Shanali, a stakes-winning daughter of Alydeed.

“This colt is very correct and he is curious and friendly” said Michael Hoffman, manager of Beau Valley Stable.

Bred by Jayson Horner, Coltimus Prime is the only stallion standing globally by recently pensioned Milwaukee Brew, a two-time winner of the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap.

As a 3-year old, Coltimus Prime won the classic Prince of Wales Stakes in what remains the fastest time in over 25 years. He also added another classic victory to his resume, winning the Panamanian Group 1 Clasico Presidente de la Republica Stakes.

First Foal for Coltimus Prime

Canadian Classic winner Coltimus Prime (Milwaukee Brew–Certainly Special, by Distorted Humor) was represented by his first reported foal Sunday, Mar. 7, when a colt was born at Beau Valley Stable in Didsbury, Alberta. The colt is out of Shanali (Alydeed) and was bred by Anthony Bilotta.

Coltimus Prime raced in three countries–Canada, Panama, and the U.S.–over the course of his six-year campaign and was a stakes winner in all three. Highlights of his career included a Prince of Wales S. win and a placing in the GIII Ontario Derby in Canada, a championship title in Panama, and a score in Gulfstream Park's Invitational Cup S. in the U.S.
