Summer Southern Hemisphere Breeding Season Rates Set For Domestic Ashford Stud Residents

Ashford Stud has revealed its 2021 Southern Hemisphere season fees for its stallion roster remaining at the Versailles, Ky., farm over the summer, the South American publication Turf Diario reports.

A total of 10 stallions will be on offer for breedings on Southern Hemisphere time, led by champion Uncle Mo, whose advertised fee for the season is $30,000.

The 13-year-old son of Indian Charlie's Southern Hemisphere runners are led by Man From Uncle, who is a multiple group stakes winner in Australia. Other runners of note on that side of the world include Australian group-placed Moqueen, St Covet's Spirit, Miss Moana, and Sister Sledge.

Two young stallions will stand for $10,000: the international runner Caravaggio, whose first foals are 2-year-olds of 2021, and Belmont Stakes winner Tiz the Law, who recently completed his first Northern Hemisphere season at stud. Tiz the Law was initially scheduled to stand in Chile this summer, but he will remain in the U.S.

Maximum Security and Classic Empire will stand for $7,500, while Air Force Blue, Cupid, Echo Town, and Mo Town will stand for $5,000.

Interstatedaydream Becomes Fourth Winner for Classic Empire

INTERSTATEDAYDREAM (f, 2, Classic Empire–Babcock, by Uncle Mo) was backed down to 3-5 favoritism for this unveiling off a speedy string of works at Keeneland and Churchill Downs. The bay kept a close eye on the leaders from a two-wide third through a :22.95 first quarter. Wearing down the pacesetters in the lane, she was confronted by Miss Interpret (Street Sense) on her outside and the pair battled to the line with Interstatedaydream getting up by a head. She is the fourth winner for her freshman sire (by Pioneerof the Nile). The winner's dam Babcock is a half-sister to two-time Sovereign Award winner Uncaptured (Lion Heart) and MGSW Dancing Raven (Tomahawk). OTTOMAN EMPIRE (c, 2, Classic Empire–Seven Stars, by Indygo Shiner) belied 13-1 odds to become the third winner–all under the Twin Spires–for champion juvenile and freshman sire Classic Empire (Pioneerof the Nile), who himself was a first-up graduate here in 2016. Away in midpack between rivals, the bay started to get going heading for home but still had his work cut out for him as James Graham tried to guide him out in the clear. Ottoman Empire leveled off in midstretch, struck the front late and was followed home by Texas Red Hot (Texas Red) en route to a one-length decision. HARVARD (c, 3, Pioneerof the Nile–Sambuca Classica, by Cat Thief) finished second behind a good-looking debut from American Prince (Liam's Map) at Gulfstream Feb. 28 and was stretching out to two turns off a distant runner-up effort behind Triple Crown winner Justify (Scat Daddy)'s 'TDN Rising Star' half-brother Stage Raider (Pioneerof the Nile) in a sloppy seven-furlong maiden at Keeneland Apr. 10. Stage Raider, incidentally, is the morning-line 2-5 favorite for a one-mile Belmont allowance Friday afternoon. Pounded into 1-2 favoritism with blinkers going on for the first time, Harvard was urged along early between rivals to lead heading into the first turn and was allowed to dictate a very easy pace while traveling comfortably. Asked for his best in upper stretch, the bay put the race to bed within a few strides, accounting for 23-10 second pick W W Crazy (Jess's Dream) by 4 1/2 very comfortable lengths.
