America’s Day At The Races Telecast To Feature Racing From Belmont, Churchill

America's Day at the Races, the acclaimed national telecast produced by the New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) in partnership with FOX Sports, will air 18.5 hours of coverage Thursday through Sunday, with action from Belmont Park and Churchill Downs.

Presented by America's Best Racing and Claiborne Farm, America's Day at the Races will broadcast live racing action this week, with at least three hours of coverage every day on FOX Sports 2.

Broadcast schedule for America's Day at the Races (all times Eastern):

Thursday, June 10
FS2: 3 – 8:30 p.m.

Friday, June 11
FS2: 12:30 – 5:30 p.m.

Saturday, June 12
FS2: 5– 8 p.m.

Sunday, June 13
FS2: 12:30 – 5:30 p.m.

Thursday will feature a nine-race card at Belmont with a first post of 3:05 p.m. Eastern, with FS2 airing from 3-8:30 p.m. Among the highlights from the Elmont, New York-based track will be a 1 1/4-mile inner turf contest for older fillies and mares in Race 7. High Opinion, trained by Tony Dutrow, is the 3-1 morning line favorite, boasting a resume that includes a runner-up finish in the Winter Memories last November at Aqueduct Racetrack.

In Race 8, a seven-furlong optional claiming race on the main track, 2-1 favorite Town Classic will be looking to build off a last-out third-place finish in the Grade 3 Runhappy in May at Belmont Park. The Saffie Joseph, Jr. trainee ran third in the Sir Shackleton in the race prior in March at Gulfstream Park and is 0-2-2 in four stars to commence his 8-year-old campaign.

Thursday's broadcast will also feature the full eight-race card from Churchill, located in Louisville, Kentucky.

Friday's show will air the entire nine-race Belmont card, encompassing a 6 1/2-furlong main track sprint for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up in an allowance optional claiming tilt in Race 7. Don't Call Me Mary, conditioned by Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher, will look to win her second consecutive start and is listed as the 2-1 favorite. The entirety of Churchill's nine-race program will also be shown.

Saturday will see the final two races on the 10-race Belmont card air on America's Day at the Races, while the first five races from Churchill, running its Downs After Dark program, will also be shown.

America's Day at the Races is also broadcast on NYRA's YouTube channel which boasts more than 70,000 subscribers. Fans can subscribe to NYRA's channel and set a reminder to watch the show on YouTube Live. Grade 1 Winner Juliet Foxtrot Headlines Mint Julep, Saturday’s Downs After Dark Feature

Juddmonte's Grade 1-winning homebred Juliet Foxtrot (GB) leads a field of 11 fillies and mares that were entered in Saturday night's $150,000 Old Forester Mint Julep (Grade 3) at Churchill Downs.

The 1 1/16-mile Old Forester Mint Julep, run over the Matt Winn Turf Course, is carded as Race 9 with a post time of 10:11 p.m. (all times Eastern). The 11-race Downs After Dark program gets underway at 6 p.m.

Juliet Foxtrot, trained by Brad Cox, cruised to a two-length victory in the April 10 Jenny Wiley (G1) at Keeneland. The daughter of Dansili (GB) was transferred to the care of Cox in 2019 from European-based conditioner Charles Hills. Since arriving stateside, Juliet Foxtrot has run some of her best races including victories in the 2019 Modesty (G3) and the 2020 Gallorette (G3).

The six-time winner will be ridden by Tyler Gaffalione from post No. 2.

Other top horses that entered the Mint Julep are Robert and Lawana Low's four-time stakes heroine She'sonthewarpath and Stonestreet Stables' $150,000 Indiana Grand Stakes winner Hendy Woods.

Chase Miller Scores First Victory Aboard His Father’s Trainee At Churchill Downs

Jockey Chase Miller, the 27-year-old son of trainer Darrin Miller, recorded his first-career victory Thursday evening aboard Bethy in Race 4 at Churchill Downs.

Owned by Silverton Hill, and trained by Miller's father, Bethy cruised to a 3 ¼-length win as the 4-5 post time favorite.

Bethy was Miller's 10th mount in his young career. He moved to Kentucky at an early age and attended Oldham County High School. Miller began to work for his father and eventually was an exercise rider for Steve Asmussen, Todd Pletcher and, in more recent years, George Weaver.

Miller's career in the saddle began in 2012 at Delaware Park where he rode in three races. He worked the past several years as an exercise rider until he once again pursued his dream to ride races. He was named on one horse Friday for his father and two Sunday for trainers Genevieve Londono and Jason Cook.

‘Reckless Practices,’ ‘Repeated Failures’: Churchill Downs Suspends Bob Baffert For Two Years

Churchill Downs Incorporated (“CDI”) announced Wednesday the suspension of Bob Baffert for two years effective immediately through the conclusion of the 2023 Spring Meet at Churchill Downs Racetrack. The suspension prohibits Baffert, or any trainer directly or indirectly employed by Bob Baffert Racing Stables, from entering horses in races or applying for stall occupancy at all CDI-owned racetracks.

This decision follows the confirmation by attorneys representing Bob Baffert of the presence of betamethasone, a prohibited race-day substance, in Medina Spirit's bloodstream on the day of the 147th running of the Kentucky Derby in violation of the Commonwealth of Kentucky's equine medication protocols and CDI's terms and conditions for racing.

“CDI has consistently advocated for strict medication regulations so that we can confidently ensure that horses are fit to race and the races are conducted fairly,” said Bill Carstanjen, CEO of CDI. “Reckless practices and substance violations that jeopardize the safety of our equine and human athletes or compromise the integrity of our sport are not acceptable and as a company we must take measures to demonstrate that they will not be tolerated. Mr. Baffert's record of testing failures threatens public confidence in Thoroughbred racing and the reputation of the Kentucky Derby. Given these repeated failures over the last year, including the increasingly extraordinary explanations, we firmly believe that asserting our rights to impose these measures is our duty and responsibility.”

CDI reserves the right to extend Baffert's suspension if there are additional violations in any racing jurisdiction.

The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission (“KHRC”) has the sole authority to disqualify Medina Spirt as the winner of Kentucky Derby 147. It is the understanding of CDI that the KHRC is pursuing the completion of its investigation of this matter in accordance with its rules and regulations.
