Charles Town Cancels Saturday Racing Due To Continued Frigid Temperatures

Due to the ongoing effects of the winter weather and continued cold temperatures, Charles Town's live racing program scheduled for Saturday evening, Jan. 22 has been cancelled.

It marked the third straight card cancelled at the West Virginia racetrack, with the card from Thursday, Jan. 20 postponed to Wednesday, Jan. 26. Friday and Saturday's cards were cancelled entirely.

The track is currently scheduled to resume racing on Wednesday night with its standard first race post time of 7:00 P.M. EST.

Charles Town Cancels Thursday Program, Moves Card To Jan. 26

Due to the effects of winter weather, Charles Town's live racing program scheduled for Thursday evening has been cancelled.

In addition, the track has announced it will be moving tonight's cancelled program in its entirety to Wednesday, Jan. 26. The first race next Wednesday is scheduled for Charles Town's standard start time of 7:00 P.M. EST.

Following this evening's cancellation, Charles Town is slated to resume live racing tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 21.

Charles Town Cancels Saturday Racing; Third Straight Card Missed Due To Winter Storm

Charles Town Races in West Virginia will not run on Saturday evening, the track posted on Twitter early this afternoon.

It marks the third straight day Charles Town has been forced to cancel races after a winter storm brought snow and sub-freezing temperatures to much of the Northeastern United States.

Racing will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 12, a makeup card for Thursday, Jan. 6.

Winter Storm Forces Thursday Cancellations At Laurel Park, Charles Town

The Maryland Jockey Club has canceled Thursday's nine-race program at Laurel Park because of the lingering effects of a winter storm earlier in the week that brought rounds of sleet, freezing rain and snowfall to the area.

Laurel, Pimlico, Rosecroft and the MJC OTB Network remain open for simulcasting.

Live racing is set to resume Friday with a nine-race program with first race post of 12:25 p.m.

Due to the winter weather moving through the region later today, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races in West Virginia has cancelled its live racing program for Thursday evening, Jan. 6. Live racing is currently slated to resume on Friday, Jan. 7 with a first race post time of 7:00 P.M. EST.
