CKRH to Auction Off Stars’ Halters As Part of June 18 Gala Fundraiser

Central Kentucky Riding for Hope (CKRH), a non-profit therapeutic riding program, is celebrating the return of its Night of the Stars gala in the Keeneland Sales Pavilion June 18, 2022, which will include dinner, silent & live auctions and a simulated Thoroughbred auction that gives guests the opportunity to sponsor a CKRH rider and program horse team for the coming year. Nearly 250 items are now available for online bidding, including:

  • 19 halters worn by various Thoroughbred superstars such as Triple Crown winners American Pharoah and Justify, champion Arrogate and 2022 Kentucky Oaks winner Secret Oath. Each halter comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
  • A signed 1992 NCAA Elite Eight basketball from the iconic Kentucky-Duke game memorialized by Christian Laettner's buzzer-beating shot.
  • Box stall equine transport by Salle Horse Vans from Lexington, KY to Ocala, FL.
  • Corporate box for 2022 or 2023 race meets at Churchill Downs.
  • An equine oil painting by the late renowned animalier Count Bernard de Claviere.
  • Unique experiences such a personal helicopter tour or a variety of premium Kentucky bourbons.

Knicks Go Halter to be Auctioned for Charity

A halter worn by recently crowned 2021 Horse of the Year Knicks Go (Paynter) will be auctioned at Louisville Collegiate School's Gold Gala this Saturday, Feb. 26. Trainer Brad Cox donated the halter and autographed a photo of the 2021 GI Breeders' Cup Classic winner, which will be included in the package. Proceeds from the gala benefit Louisville Collegiate School.

After the Finish Line’s Breeders’ Cup Hat Auction to Charity

After the Finish Line will host the 6th Annual Charity Auction of Breeders' Cup Hats opening this Sunday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. ET at ebay.com/str/afterthefinishline. The auction, which lasts for one week, will feature over 50 Breeders' Cup hats from the 2021 World Championships at Del Mar, donated by the horses' connections, as well as hats from past winners. The Retired Racehorse Project (RRP) will receive a portion of proceeds. A number of other aftercare organizations will receive the proceeds from their chosen hat.

“This auction brings aftercare and horse racing fans together in a unique way,” said Dawn Mellen, president and founder of After the Finish Line. “This helps raise awareness about the importance of aftercare for racing fans. We are excited to help build the bridge between racing and aftercare with this annual auction.”

Charity Auction to Be Part of RoR Racing to Cricket Day

There will be seven lots, including a share in a racehorse and nominations to stallions Nathaniel (Ire) and Time Test (GB), on offer during the charity auction portion of the Racing to Cricket Day, Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) announced on Tuesday.

Other lots include two tickets on Centre Court at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships and accompanying hospitality; four seats for a production of “The Nutcracker” at the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden with dinner at the Balconies restaurant; the use of a fully catered private box for 14 people on the finishing line at Ascot Racecourse excluding Royal Ascot; a case of vintage 2013 Grand Vin de Lafite wine; and a quarter-share (25%) in a yearling filly by Twilight Son (GB) with all expenses paid for one year. The auction will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 5, but RoR is also accepting bids by email at auction@ror.org.uk up to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4.

During the Racing to Cricket Day, eight racing teams will compete at Wormsley Cricket Ground, near High Wycombe on Sunday, Sept. 5 to win the 2021 RoR Racing to Cricket Trophy.

“We are delighted that the event is going ahead in 2021 and we hope for another memorable day at a special venue,” said RoR Chief Executive Di Arbuthnot. “We are so grateful for the generosity and support of donors, who have given us these wonderful auction lots.”
