Consignors and Commercial Breeders Association Installs New Board Members

The Consignors and Commercial Breeders Association (CBA), whose 300-strong membership accounts for over 80% of the annual auction revenue in North America, elected new officers and board members at a recent meeting, the organization said in a release Wednesday evening.

The CBA's 15-member Board features eight members from the top 20 consignors and seven members from other consignors and commercial breeders. Each year, a portion of the Board completes their term and new members fill the positions. Joining the board for 2024 will be Lakota Gibson (Gainesway), Jill Gordon (Highgate Sales), Robyn Murray (Coolmore), and Hunter Simms (Warrendale Sales).

“I'd like to thank Liz Crow, Conrad Bandoroff, Adrian Regan, and Sean Tugel for their service to the CBA over the last three years,” said CBA President Walker Hancock. “Their input and participation has been invaluable and has helped increase the CBA's reputation throughout the industry. We look forward to welcoming the new board members as we continue to strive to better serve all consignors and breeders.”

Continuing their terms on the Board are Carrie Brogden (Machmer Hall Sales), Neal Clarke (Atlas Farm/Bedouin Bloodstock), Pat Costello (Paramount Sales), Tommy Eastham (Legacy Bloodstock), Lynn Hancock (Stone Farm), Walker Hancock (Claiborne Farm), Scott Mallory (Scott Mallory, Agent), Samantha McGreevy (Taylor Made), Allaire Ryan (Lane's End), Rob Tribbett (Watercress Farm), and Caroline Wilson (SF Bloodstock).

Walker Hancock Named CBA President

The Consignors and Commercial Breeders Association (CBA) has named new officers and board members for 2023, including the move of Claiborne Farm's Walker Hancock from vice president to president. Rob Tribbett of Watercress Farm will serve as vice president, while Stone Farm's Lynn Hancock has been named treasurer and outgoing president Allaire Ryan will continue to serve the organization as past president.

“The CBA is very appreciative of Allaire's work and progress she made during her time as president,” said the new president. “She took the CBA to a new level and I'm pleased to continue to work with her as she takes on her new roll as past president. I look forward to embracing the many challenges ahead and will work hard to represent all consignors and breeders in hopes of making the sales space better for everyone involved.”

New board members for 2023 will be Scott Mallory (Scott Mallory, Agent), Samantha McGreevy (Taylor Made Sales), and Caroline Wilson (SF Bloodstock). Those continuing to serve include all of the officers, as well as Conrad Bandoroff (Denali Stud), Carrie Brogden (Machmer Hall Sales), Neal Clarke (Atlas Farm/Bedouin Bloodstock), Pat Costello (Paramount Sales), Liz Crow (ELiTE Sales), Tommy Eastham (Legacy Bloodstock), Adrian Regan (Hunter Valley Farm), and Sean Tugel (Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners). The board consists of 15 members with eight from the top 20 consignors by sales and seven from other consignors and commercial breeders. Each year a portion of the board rotates off and new board members are appointed to fill those positions.

CBA To Hold ‘Deal or No Deal’ Event Ahead of KEESEP

The Consignors and Commercial Breeders Association Inc. (CBA) will stage their fourth 'Deal or No Deal' event on the eve of the 2022 Keeneland September Sale from 4:30-6 p.m. It will take place at the Paddock Chalet next to the East Gate entrance at Keeneland, just up the hill from the sales pavilion. Keeneland will provide food and drink and live racing will be streamed from Kentucky Downs.

The 'Deal or No Deal' series kicked off last year, first at Fasig-Tipton in July and then again at Keeneland in September. In question-and-answer format, prospective buyers are granted access to industry professionals who share their experiences with veterinary findings in young horses.

Panelists will be asked questions about the impacts of various X-ray findings on performance. The participants include veterinarians Dr. Mark Cheney and Dr. Bob Hunt, European pinhooker Brendan Holland of Grove Stud, 2-year-old in training consignors Niall Brennan and Susan Montanye and trainer Todd Pletcher.

CBA Hosts Latest Edition in Deal or No Deal Series

The Consignors and Commercial Breeders Association Inc. (CBA) will hold their summer Deal or No Deal event at Fasig-Tipton Sunday, July 10th from 4:30 to 6:00 pm. It takes place in Fasig-Tipton's newly constructed outdoor pavilion between the outdoor walking ring and parking lot and an open bar will be sponsored by Fasig-Tipton. The event will also be live-streamed on Fasig-Tipton's YouTube channel.

This is a discussion on the impact of various X-ray and scope findings over time in young horses, and how the experiences of our panelists have shaped their tolerance levels of certain lesions found in sale yearlings. The participants include Veterinarians Dr. Greg Bonen Clark and Dr. Nathan Mitts, 2-Year-Old in Training consignors Randy Miles and Joe Pickerell (Pick View Farm) and Yearling Farm Managers Andy Howard (Lane's End Farm) and Logan Payne (Taylor Made Farm).

The Deal or No Deal series began in 2021, with the first held at Fasig-Tipton in July and the second at Keeneland in September. The series aims to provide educational opportunities ahead of yearling sales in a Q & A format with industry professionals who share their experiences with veterinary findings in young horses.
