Friday’s Card At Santa Anita Features $555,554 Jackpot Pick Six Carryover

There were no perfect tickets in Santa Anita's popular 20 cent Single Ticket Rainbow Pick Six Jackpot on Monday, resulting in a sizeable Jackpot carryover of $555,554 into an eight-race program on Friday. First post time is at 12:30 p.m.

With a carryover from Sunday of $481,864, there was $321,913 in new money wagered Monday, resulting in a total Rainbow Six Jackpot pool of $803,777.

Although there was no Single Ticket winner, there were 48 consolation tickets with six winners, each worth $3,602.05.

Friday's Rainbow Six will be comprised of races three through eight. Approximate post time for Friday's third race is at 1:30 p.m. PT.

Mandatory Payout, Million-Dollar Carryover In Saturday’s Rainbow 6 At Gulfstream Park

A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 will be held at Gulfstream Park Saturday, when the pool is expected to swell into the millions.

The popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the 13th racing day in a row Friday, when multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $772.70.

When Rainbow 6 betting begins Saturday, there will already be a pool of $1,066,988.63 carried over from Friday's card.

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is usually only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool usually goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. However, on mandatory-payout days, the entire pool is paid out to the bettor or bettors with the most winners in the six-race sequence.

Saturday's Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 6-11, highlighted by the $100,000 Tropical Turf (G3) in Race 10.

Admission Office, who ran in the Pegasus Turf and finished second twice in Grade 2 stakes at Gulfstream Park last year, is set for a return from a six-month layoff since winning the Louisville (G3) at Churchill Downs. Tusk, the defending Tropical Turf champion; and Ride a Comet, the 2018 Del Mar Derby (G2) winner who came off a two-year layoff to win both 2020 starts on Woodbine's synthetic surface; are other prominent contenders.

The Rainbow 6 sequence kicks off in Race 6, a five-furlong $20,000 claiming race on turf dash for older fillies and mares. Just Smok'n, who broke her maiden during last year's Championship Meet, drops into a claiming race for the first time while coming off an eight-month layoff. Henni Penny is set to make her debut for trainer Kathleen O'Connell while dropping from $40,000 claiming company.

A full field of 12 3-year-olds has been assembled for Race 7, a mile maiden special weight event. Todd Pletcher-trained First Task, a son of Uncle Mo; Chad Brown-trained Rosenquist, also a son of Uncle Mo, are scheduled to make their respective debuts. Pletcher is also slated to saddle Bracken, who overcame trouble to finish second behind highly regarded stablemate Prime Factor last time out.

A five-furlong optional claiming allowance on turf with a full field of older horses follows in Race 8. Big Drink of Water, who came off a year-layoff to dominate a field of $35,000 claimers Dec. 17; Pletcher-trained Freewheeler, an allowance winner at Belmont two starts back; and Ian Wilkes-trained Chief Howcome, who finished third in an allowance over Churchill's main track following a maiden score on turf at Indiana Downs; are among the contenders in what appears to be a 'spread' race.

A seven-furlong starter allowance in Race 9 will be contested by eight older horses, including Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained Town Classic, a close second in the Claiming Crown Rapid Transit.

The Rainbow 6 sequence will conclude in Race 10, a $25,000 maiden claimer for 3-year-old fillies at a mile on turf that appears to be a wide-open race.

There will also be a Super Hi-5 carryover of $26,167.55 heading into Saturday's program.

WHO'S HOT: Paco Lopez made four visits to the winner's circle following victories aboard Jr Speed ($11.20) in Race 1, Reservenotattained ($2.80) in Race 6, Bramble Berry ($5) in Race 8 and Golovkin ($9) in Race 10.

Stronach 5: Black Friday Wager Features Carryover Of $91,481

The Stronach 5, with an industry-low 12-percent takeout, will have a carryover Friday of $91,481.74.

The popular wager, which has consistently offered bettors a strong return on investment, will feature races from Laurel Park and Gulfstream Park West.

The Stronach 5 begins at approximately 3:20 p.m. with Laurel's seventh race, a $35,000 restricted allowance event at seven furlongs that attracted a field of nine including last year's Schuylerville (G3) runner-up Kiss the Girl and stakes-placed Stickingtogether.

The second leg of the Stronach 5 will be Laurel's eighth race, a starter optional claimer for 3-year-olds and up going six furlongs. Day the Music Died, Belle Tapisserie, Wonder In and Marco Island all enter off victories.

The action turns to Gulfstream West and its eighth race for the third leg, a claiming event for fillies and mares before returning to Laurel for its ninth race, a $10,000 maiden claiming event at a mile that drew 14 fillies and mares. The Stronach 5 concludes with Gulfstream's ninth race, the lone turf event in the sequence. The five furlong sprint will feature 3-year-olds and up including last-out winners R Man Joe and Balistico as well as Kantharos' Image, who has a victory, two seconds and two thirds in his last five starts.

The minimum wager on the multi-race, multi-track Stronach 5 is $1. If there are no tickets with five winners, the entire pool will be carried over to the next Friday.

If a change in racing surface is made after the wagering closes, each selection on any ticket will be considered a winning selection. If a betting interest is scratched, that selection will be substituted with the favorite in the win pool when wagering closes.

The Maryland Jockey Club serves as host of the Stronach 5.

Mandatory Payout: Saturday’s Rainbow 6 Wager Features $111,271 Carryover At Gulfstream West

A mandatory payout of the Rainbow 6 pool will take place Saturday at Gulfstream Park West.

The popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the eighth consecutive program following a $249,204 jackpot hit on Oct. 18. Multiple tickets with six winners were each worth $1,797.10 Friday, leaving a carryover jackpot of $111,271.06 heading into Saturday's program.

The carryover jackpot is usually only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. However, on mandatory payout days the whole pool is paid out to the bettor or bettors holding tickets with the most winners in the six-race sequence.

Gulfstream hosts and analysists Ron Nicoletti and Jason Blewitt have handicapped Saturday's mandatory Rainbow 6. Nicoletti's ticket is $97.20 while Blewitt's ticket is $64.80 with a single in the sixth race of Friendly Fella.

Saturday's Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 4-9, kicked off in Race 4 by a six-furlong sprint that attracted a full field of 12 $8,000 claimers. Rohan Crichton, who has saddled 11 winners from 27 starters during the Gulfstream Park West meet, will be represented by Hard West, who steps up a notch after drawing away to a five-length victory last time out. The Crichton trainee is rated third in the morning line at 9-2 in a most competitive race behind Congrats This, the 7-2 favorite who finished second against better last time out, and Bahamian Prince, who drops to a career low level after finishing two spots behind Congrats This.

A full field of $12,500 claimers will contest Race 5, a 1 1/16-mile race on turf for 3-year-olds and up. Mike is Ready, who is 20-1 in the morning line, gets blinkers after being nosed out in an off-the-turf effort. Senzazione will be well-backed with Paco Lopez aboard for the first time. A seven-furlong sprint for $12,500 claimers, 3-years old and up, follows in Race 6, in which Friendly Fella, who is making his second start off a long layoff, is the 5-2 morning-line favorite.

Joe Bravo makes his return to South Florida Saturday, when he will be aboard Indimaaj in Race 7, a 7 ½-furlong turf races for 3-year-olds and up. Indimaaj finished second in an off-the-turf race last time out. Jane Cibelli-trained Flowmotion, a two-time winner during the Championship Meet at Gulfstream, also make his return to South Florida as the 5-2 morning-line favorite.

Hallawallah, a former Steve Asmussen trainee making her first start for Juan Carlos Avila and Gulfstream Park West debut, is the 5-2 morning-line favorite for the Race 8 feature, a seven-furlong optional claiming allowance for fillies and mares.

A 6 ½-furlong race for $6,500 claiming fillies and mares concludes the Rainbow 6 sequence in Race 9. Reiterate, a runner-up at the $12.500 claiming level last time out, is rated a strong 6-5 favorite in the morning line in a full field.
