Cachet to be Offered at Tattersalls December Mares Sale

Highclere T'bred Racing–Wild Flower's G1 1000 Guineas winner Cachet (Ire) (Acclaim {Ire}) will be offered for sale at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale in the second edition of the Sceptre Sessions on Monday, Dec. 4 and Tuesday, Dec. 5. Trained by George Boughey, the 4-year-old filly is intended to run in the G1 Sun Chariot S. at Newmarket on Oct. 7.

As a 3-year-old the Classic winner won the G3 Nell Gwyn S. on her first start at three and was also top class at two and was also second in the G1 Fillies' Mile. In her only start this year at four, she was fourth in last week's JRA Sceptre Fillies S. at Doncaster.

“Cachet became Highclere's first domestic Classic winner when winning the QIPCO 1,000 Guineas last year,” Highclere Racing's Harry Herbert commented. “She provided her 20 share owners with the absolute thrill of a lifetime at Newmarket and many will be there to see her sold at Tattersalls in December. Brilliantly bought by Jake Warren and trained to perfection by George Boughey, she is a stunningly beautiful filly with great presence.”

The Tattersalls December Mares Sale takes place Dec. 4-7 and the Sceptre Sessions for Elite Fillies and Broodmares is set for Dec. 4-5.

Classic Winner Cachet Eyeing Sceptre Return At Doncaster

Classic winner Cachet (Ire) (Aclaim {Ire}) is approaching her long-awaited return and is targeting the G3 Sceptre S. at Doncaster during the St Leger meeting next week, trainer George Boughey revealed.

Boughey told SBK, “I'm very happy with her. She's in as good a form as I could have her considering the lay-off she's had. She's been away to Chelmsford, and we worked her at Kempton on Thursday morning. She's worked in between on fast ground at home in Newmarket. Fast ground is really key to her. The surfaces on the all-weather are very deep at the moment due to the heat. Her work is good away from home but it's even better on the grass.”

Placed in the G2 Rockfel S. and G1 Fillies' Mile and fourth in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf as a juvenile, the Highclere Thoroughbred Racing runner won the G3 Nell Gwyn S. upon resuming as a 3-year-old. The 'TDN Rising Star' then ran out a narrow winner of the G1 1000 Guineas and as second in the G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches in May of 2022. Last seen running fifth in Royal Ascot's G1 Coronation S. that June, she has been on the sidelines since. Boughey is considering either the G1 Sun Chariot S. at Newmarket on Oct. 7, or the G1 Prix de la Foret at ParisLongchamp on Oct. 1 after her Sceptre start, with a return to the Breeders' Cup also a possibility.

“If we get a warm autumn and the Sun Chariot S. comes up good or better, then that would be my preference over the Forêt,” he added. “She's proven how good she is at Newmarket's Rowley Mile. The Breeders' Cup has always been in the back of our minds at the end of the year too, but there are a few bridges to cross before we get there.”

Boughey Aiming Cachet At Breeders’ Cup After Break

Classic heroine Cachet (Ire) (Aclaim {Ire}) will be given a break prior to resuming her campaign with an eye to the Breeders' Cup in November, trainer George Boughey announced on Thursday. Fourth in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Del Mar, the Highclere Thoroughbred Racing colourbearer resumed with an easy win in the G3 Nell Gwyn S. at Newmarket in April, prior to her victory in the G1 QIPCO 1000 Guineas S. there on May 1. Second in the French equivalent on May 15, the 'TDN Rising Star' led in the G1 Coronation S. before tiring to fifth at Royal Ascot.

“Cachet is good,” Boughey said. “She's had a busy start to the year. She's basically had four Group 1 races. I would imagine she will be busy through early autumn. She peaked last year at the Breeders' Cup in November, and it's been the plan before the Guineas to try and end up there, so I think it's only fair to her that she has a bit of time away from the yard, so she's off to Fittock Stud with the Cumanis and she will be back in the autumn and raring to go.

“She was very good out there in America and she likes the soft mile. Ascot was just a bit searching for her with the hill. At Newmarket you can freewheel for a big part of the race so she could go back there for the [G1] Sun Chariot [S. on Oct. 1] or possibly the [G1 Prix de la] Foret on Arc Day [Oct. 2] before the Breeders' Cup. America is the main target.”
