The Glancing Queen Reigns At Doncaster

Grade 2 winner The Glancing Queen (Ire) (Jeremy) (lot 210) topped the first day of the Goffs UK January Sale at Doncaster on Tuesday. Selling for £150,000 to Dahlbury, the Mill House Stud-consigned bay won the G2 Goffs Nickel Coin Bumper at Aintree's Grand National Festival.

Second on the buyers' sheets was Cap Soleil (Fr) (Kapgarde {Fr}) (lot 221), who is in foal to Crystal Ocean (GB) from Throckmorton Court Stud. Rathmore Stud snapped up the 9-year-old for £75,000.

A new record top price for a NH foal was set for the sale, when a Walk In The Park (Ire) half-brother (lot 25) to Grade 2 winner Nube Negra (Spa) (Dink {Fr}) made £75,000 to Gerry Aherne. The Alne Park Stud draftee is from the extended family of dual Australian group winner The Velvet King (Aus) (Universal Ruler {Aus}).

At the close of trade, 114 of 224 (51%) offered sold for a gross of £1,559,500. The average rose 22% to £13,680, but the median dropped slightly to £7,000 (-13%). Diverse Tattersalls February Catalogue Released

A total of 463 lots have been catalogued for the two-day Tattersalls February Sale and can be viewed online. The sale will begin after the TBA Stallion Parade, which starts at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 2, and at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 3.

The catalogue is comprised of 203 fillies and mares in/out-of-training, 37 broodmares and one stallion, 200 colts and geldings in/out-of-training, 11 yearlings and 11 2-year-olds. There are high class consignments from leading owner-breeders including Godolphin (16) and from leading British trainers including Andrew Balding (10), Karl Burke (16), William Haggas (2) and Richard Hannon (12) to name a few. The Castlebridge Consignment will field the largest draft of the sale with 68.

Numerous quality breeding stock are set to go through the ring, among them: Godolphin's black-type producer Dubian To (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) (lot 147) who is out of multiple top-level winner Mrs Lindsay (Theatrical {Ire}); black-type producer All Time High (Ire) (High Chaparral {Ire}) (lot 170) in foal to No Nay Never features from The Castlebridge Consignment; and a pair of mares in foal to New Bay (GB)–Lunearia (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) (lot 79) and Queenhope (Fr) (Kendargent {Fr}) (lot 128), and a Kingman (GB) half-sister to Group 1 winner The Revenant (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), Albanderi (GB) (lot 78) are all from Barton Sales. Tweenhills consigns Now Or Never (Ire) (Bushranger {Ire}) (lot 130), who was a Group 2 winner and Classic placed and is a half-sister to two-time Group 1 winner Fairyland (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) from the family of five-time top-shelf scorer Dream Ahead in foal to Kameko. Far Westfield Farm offers Nigh (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) (lot 124), a half-sister to Group 1 winner Kingsgate Native (Ire) (Mujadil), who has already produced 2022 Group 3 winner Via Sistina (Ire) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}). Mickley Stud consigns the stallion Almanaara (Ire) (Shamardal) (lot 1), who is a half-brother to leading sire Dark Angel (Ire) and retired to stud in 2021.

In 2022, the sale yielded a pair of Group 2-winning juveniles–The Ridler (GB) (Brazen Beau {Aus}) and Isaac Shelby (GB) (Night Of Thunder {Ire})–as well as Royal Ascot hero Missed The Cut (Quality Road). Lots of note include a Galileo (Ire) juvenile half-brother (lot 93) to two-time Group 1 winner Amazing Maria (Ire) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}) from Barton Sales; Sir Laurence Graff (Ire) (lot 399), a 3-year-old Galileo full-brother to listed winner and G1 St Leger fourth Interpretation (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) who is rated 85 from The Castlebridge Consignment; Roaring Lion sophomore Mohatu (GB) (lot 410) who broke his maiden for William Haggas hails from theJamie Railton; as well as Juddmonte's Clifton Down (Ire) (Lope De Vega {Ire}) (lot 144), who has placed in three of his four starts in France.

Dam And Half-Brother To Al Riffa Feature In Goffs February Catalogue

The catalogue for the 487-strong Goffs February sale, which includes the dam and half-brother of juvenile Group 1 winner Al Riffa (Fr) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), is now online. Slated for Feb. 8-9, the sale includes Flat and National Hunt weanlings, breeding stock, 2-year-olds and horses-in-training, and will begin at 10 a.m. each day.

One of the highlights of the catalogue is Galileo (Ire) mare Love On My Mind (Ire) (lot 479). In foal to Galileo Chrome (Ire), the 11-year-old sells as part of the Clonbonny Stud draft, as does lot 321, her yearling half-brother to G1 National S. hero Al Riffa.

Ballyshannon Stud offers Its All For Luck (Ire) (Fast Company {Ire}) (lot 474), who is a sister to G1 Irish 1000 Guineas heroine Jet Setting (Ire) (Fast Company {Ire}). She is in foal to Profitable (Ire).

La Petite Coco (Ire) (Ruler Of The World {Ire}) triumphed in the G1 Pretty Polly S. last term prior to selling for 1 million gns to Wertheimer & Frere at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale. Her winning Thewayyouare half-sister Promenada (Ire) is part of the Coolagown Stud consignment as lot 459. Their dam, La Petite Virginia (Ger) (Konigstiger {Ger}) is a half-sister to three stakes winners led by G1 German Derby hero Lavirco (Ger) (Konigsstuhl {Ger}).

From the horses-in-training portion of the catalogue, an unnamed 3-year-old filly by Iffraaj (GB) and out of G3 Golden Daffodil S. heroine Mango Mischief (Ire) (Desert King {Ire}) sells as lot 48 for Flexford Partners.

Bidding Now Open for Fasig-Tipton December Digital Selected Sale

Fasig-Tipton has catalogued 143 entries for its December Digital Selected Sale, which may now be viewed at digital.fasigtipton.com. Bidding is open as of Thursday, Dec. 8 at 12 p.m. ET and closes Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. ET.

The catalogue features selected horses of racing age, breeding stock, weanlings, and yearlings. There are offerings located throughout the United States, including California, Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

“We have put together a very exciting catalogue for this inaugural December Digital auction,” said Leif Aaron, Fasig-Tipton's Director of Digital Sales. “The interest from sellers has been tremendous and resulted in our largest digital auction to date.
