We Are Ninety Tops Tattersalls Online March 23 Sale

The Tattersalls Online 23rd March Sale, the third online sale to be held by Europe's leading bloodstock auctioneers, saw solid trade headed by the final installment of the complete dispersal from the late Peter Magnier's Brittas House Stud and attracted bidders from a remarkable sixteen different countries.

The Brittas House Stud dispersal provided the top five lots in the sale, led by the listed winner We Are Ninety, who sold in foal to the Group 1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Sottsass and with her Calyx filly foal at foot. The 8-year-old mare is out of a full-sister to the Group 1 winners Listen and Sequoyah, and proved to be the star turn in the sale, selling to Michael Donohoe of BBA Ireland for 75,000 guineas.

Commenting on the purchase of the three-in-one package, BBA Ireland's Michael Donohoe said;

“We Are Ninety was an obvious pick; she was a smart performer herself from a very good family, she has a nice foal and it's an exciting cover. The Tattersalls Online platform worked seamlessly and it's a format we are all becoming increasingly comfortable with.”

Also attracting spirited competition were the well-bred Galileo mare Zee Zee Gee, a daughter of a Group 1 winner in Zee Zee Top and a sister to another in Izzi Top, and her yearling filly by No Nay Never, who were purchased by BBA Ireland and Whitehall Stables for 48,000 guineas and 45,000 guineas respectively. The dual winning Zoffany filly Combine was the fourth lot from the Brittas House Stud dispersal to realize in excess of 40,000 guineas, selling to De Burgh Equine for 42,000 guineas.

Percy Willis, a 3-year-old son of Sir Percy offered by Eve Johnson Houghton's Woodway Stables, was another lot to attract plenty of attention with Middleham-based trainer Jedd O'Keeffe seeing off a number of bidders to secure the progressive gelding for 28,000 guineas.

“I was very pleased with the Tattersalls Online sale,” commented Eve Johnson Houghton. “The timing worked perfectly for my two horses and they both sold very well. Today's sale has definitely given me the confidence to use the Tattersalls Online platform again.”

The Tattersalls Online 23rd March Sale recorded the highest level of engagement for a sale on the Tattersalls Online platform yet, with well over a hundred registered bidders from sixteen different countries including Australia, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Kuwait, Sweden and the U.S.

Tattersalls Online March Sale Concludes on Tuesday

Bidding began for the Tattersalls Online March Sale on Mar. 22 and will remain open until the first lot closes at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, with successive lots closing in two minute intervals. Among the 30 lots is the final Brittas House Stud dispersal, featuring the Galileo (Ire) mare Zee Zee Gee (GB) (lot 6), herself a daughter of Group 1 winner Zee Zee Top (GB) (Zafonic). Her 2020 filly by No Nay Never is offered as lot 5. Brittas also consigns lot 4, We Are Ninety (Ire) (Thewayyouare), with her Calyx (GB) filly of 2021.

Catalog For Tattersalls Online March Sale Out Now

The catalog for the Tattersalls Online March 23 Sale is out now and can be viewed at www.tattersallsonline.com.

A total of 35 lots will feature in the third sale conducted on the Tattersalls Online platform, including the final installment of the complete dispersal from the late Peter Magnier's Brittas House Stud, as well as a diverse range of exciting flat and National Hunt prospects, alongside a selection of breeding stock, 2-year-olds, and yearlings.

The final installment of the Brittas House Stud dispersal is headed by the 8-year-old listed winning mare We Are Ninety, who is offered in-foal to Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Sottsass and with a filly foal at foot by Calyx, the first progeny of the brilliant Group 2 Coventry Stakes winner and son of exceptional young sire Kingman to be offered at auction.

We Are Ninety's half-sister by Ten Sovereigns will also be the first foal by the dual Group 1 winning sprinter to be offered at auction, and both provide an opportunity for breeders to access a family cultivated with great success by the late Peter Magnier, who bred the Group 1 winners Listen and Sequoyah from their grandam Brigid.

The Brittas House Stud dispersal also includes the Galileo mares Innocent Air and Zee Zee Gee, who will be offered in foal to Zoffany and No Nay Never respectively. Zee Zee Gee, a daughter of the Group 1 winner Zee Zee Top from the family of the great Reprocolor, will be joined by her yearling filly by No Nay Never and the dispersal is completed by the dual winner Combine, a 4-year-old daughter of Zoffany out of the Group 3 placed Unity, who has been covered by Sea The MoonEA THE MOON.

The headline act amongst the National Hunt prospects in the sale is Dark Raven, currently the top-rated 4-year-old bumper horse in Ireland courtesy of a hugely impressive winning debut in a recent Leopardstown NH Flat Race for Willie Mullins and Patrick McCormack, and amongst the likely favourites for the €100,000 Tattersalls Ireland George Mernagh Memorial Bumper.

Dark Raven will be joined by the James McAuley trained Behind the Wall, a taking recent winner on his first start over hurdles at Limerick and a half-brother to the NH Listed performer Maria Magdalena. Culworth Grounds Farm will also offer a well-bred store by No Rish at All, the sire of champion hurdle winner Epatante and Allaho. The 4-year-old gelding hails from the family of successful National Hunt sire Jukebox Jury.

Entries with good form on the flat include the Joseph O'Brien-trained Falsaron, a 3-year-old colt by No Nay Never who placed behind the Group 3 Tyros Stakes winner Military Style at two and showed plenty of promise when runner-up at Dundalk on Friday.

The sale will also feature Eve Johnson Houghton's progressive 3-year-old Percy Willis, a son of Sir Percy from the family of Group 1 winners Mohaather and Accidental Agent who has been placed on both his starts this year. Another horse in training to note is Tilsitt, a winner on his most recent start for Ivan Furtado. In addition the sale will feature yearlings, 2-year-olds and breeding stock including the NH Listed-placed Fabianski, believed in foal to 2020 St Leger winner Galileo Chrome.

Tattersalls has released a catalogue of 35 lots for its Online 23rd March Sale. The sale includes the final installment of the dispersal of the late Peter Magnier's Brittas House Stud, headed by the 8-year-old listed-winning mare We Are Ninety (Ire) (Thewayyouare) (lot 4), offered with a Calyx (GB) filly at foot and in foal to Sottsass (Fr). We Are Ninety is out of a full-sister to Group 1-winning daughters of Sadler's Wells Listen (Ire) and Sequoyah (Ire), the latter of which is the dam of champion Henrythenavigator (Kingmambo). We Are Ninety's yearling half-sister by Ten Sovereigns (Ire) is catalogued (lot 3), as are the Galileo (Ire) mares Innocent Air (GB) (lot 1) and Zee Zee Gee (GB) (lot 6), in foal respectively to Zoffany (Ire) and No Nay Never. Zee Zee Gee's yearling filly by No Nay Never is also set for sale.

Entries with good form on the flat include 3-year-olds Falsaron (Ire) (No Nay Never) (lot 19), who was placed behind the G3 Tyros S. winner Military Style (War Front) last year; and Percy Willis (GB) (Sir Percy {GB}) (lot 26), who is placed in both his starts this year. The 4-year-old Tilsitt (Fr) (Charm Spirit {Ire}) (lot 30) won a Southwell handicap on Feb. 25.

Headlining the National Hunt portion of the sale is Dark Raven (Ire) (Malinas {Ger}) (lot 35), currently the top-rated 4-year-old bumper horse in Ireland.
