Hello Hot Rod Among Latest Additions To Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Winter Mixed

Three-year-old colt Hello Hot Rod, winner of Aqueduct's Jimmy Winkfield Stakes this past Sunday, headlines Fasig-Tipton's two latest additions to its 2021 Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale. These newest entries are cataloged as hips 672 and 673 and may now be viewed online.

Hello Hot Rod, cataloged as hip 672, will be consigned as a racing prospect by ELiTE, agent. The 3-year-old son of Mosler has won three consecutive races for trainer/co-owner Brittany Russell and partner Dark Horse Racing LLC. Making his stakes debut in the Jimmy Winkfield, Hello Hot Rod overcame the rail draw to win in game wire-to-wire fashion. Although the colt is a registered Maryland-bred, his win in the Jimmy Winkfield was against open company.

Hello Hot Rod now has three wins and one second in four career starts, and earnings of $113,941.  He is a half-brother to Hello Beautiful, a multiple stakes winner of $377,110. His female family includes graded stakes winners Hello Liberty and Significant Form.

“Hello Hot Rod is an exciting addition to our Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale,” said Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning. “It is rare for a 3-year-old colt, coming off a stakes win, to be offered at this time of year.  He is the “now horse” for those that want a colt for the Kentucky Derby trail.”

The Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale will take place this Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 8-9, in Lexington, Ky. Sessions begin daily at 10 a.m.

Freshman Sire Showcase Returns To Fasig-Tipton July Sale

Fasig-Tipton will reintroduce the “Freshman Sire Showcase” as part of the company's 2021 July Selected Yearlings Sale, which will be held on July 13 and 14 at the company's headquarters in Lexington, Ky.

Fasig-Tipton will devote a section of the catalog exclusively to yearlings by stallions with their first crop of yearlings in 2021. Last held in 2010, the new sire showcase was a highly successful element of the July Sale for many years.

“We believe that 2021 is the ideal time to bring back the Freshman Sire Showcase,” said Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning. “The market has cycled back to a point where progeny of first-crop sires are in high demand once again, and this year's class of freshman sires is an exciting group from top to bottom.

“For many years, sellers had great success showcasing individuals by first-crop yearling sires in July when we offered a new sire showcase,” continued Browning. “This concept enables sellers to separate and showcase quality individuals by freshman sires at the first yearling sale of the year, and also provides opportunities for stud farms to market and promote their young stallions.”

The July Selected Yearlings Sale will once again be preceded by the July Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale on July 12. First held in 2013, the popular H.O.R.A. sale has benefitted the yearling sale, attracting a higher number of end-users and trainers to the sales grounds.

Nominations are now open for Fasig-Tipton's three summer selected yearling sales: the July Sale, the 100th Saratoga Sale, and the New York-bred Yearlings Sale. Prospective sellers can nominate and learn more at selectedyearlings.fasigtipton.com.

Kentucky Winter Mixed Catalogue Now Online

Fasig-Tipton has catalogued 580 entries for the main catalogue of its Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale, to be held Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 8 and 9, in Lexington.  Sessions will begin each day at 10 am.

The sale will also feature a supplemental catalogue that will be available online and on the sales grounds. Fasig-Tipton will continue to accept supplemental entries over the next couple of weeks.

Hips 1-324 will be offered in the Monday session. Hips 325-580, followed by the supplemental catalogue, will be offered in the Tuesday session.

“The main catalogue has grown and improved once again this year, offering buyers additional opportunities at this last breeding stock sale of the season,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning. “We have our usual strong group of racing and broodmare prospects catalogued, but also increased quality among the in-foal mares. A large group of nearly 250 ‘short’ yearlings should prove very popular, as well.”

The Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale catalogue may now be viewed online. Print catalogues will be available beginning Jan. 21. The catalogue will also be available via the equineline sales catalogue app.
