Pound for Pound to Blue Star Racing

Multiple stakes winner Pound for Pound (Redding Colliery–Buttercup's Song, by Unbridled's Song) has joined the stallion roster at Blue Star Racing in Scott, Louisiana. The 8-year-old stallion, who was named Louisiana's champion 2-year-old in 2017, was a three-time stakes winner at Fair Grounds. On the board in 20 of 29 starts–including 10 stakes races–he won nine times and earned $507,958.

“We are thrilled to add a local Louisiana legend and Champions Day classic winner to our stallion roster,” said Dex Comardelle of Blue Star Racing. “With new legislation raising purses across the state, along with breeders' awards boosted to 25%, now is the time for breeders to invest in Louisiana.”

GSW Rushie Represented By First Foal

GII Pat Day Mile winner Rushie (Liam's Map) was represented by his first foal, a Florida-bred filly, born Jan. 31. Out of Julia's Pride (Proud Citizen), the filly is bred by Jay Goodwin, Susan Montanye and Andy Pickerell.

“We couldn't be more pleased to congratulate the breeders on a really spectacular Rushie filly. She looks to have his powerful shoulder and plenty of leg, which is exactly what we were hoping Rushie would pass along to his progeny,” said Dex Comardelle of Blue Star Racing. “This is a great start to the season.”

Florida-bred Rushie began his stallion career at Pleasant Acres Stallions in 2022 and is now standing at Blue Star Racing in Scott, Louisiana for the 2023 breeding season at $4,000 LFSN.

Rushie Moves to Louisiana’s Blue Star Racing

GSW & GISP Rushie (Liam's Map–Conquest Angel, by Colonel John), who stood his first year in 2022 in Florida at Ocala's Pleasant Acres Stallions, has been moved to Blue Star Racing near Scott, Louisiana, for the 2023 breeding season. He will stand for $4,000, live foal.

“Sires from the Unbridled's Song line have been an integral part of Louisiana breeding success for the last 20 years and Rushie is the perfect candidate to continue that legacy,” said Blue Star Racing's Dex Comardelle. “His size, speed, and durability are a great match for the speedy sprint-type mares that make up the majority of our southwest mare population.”

From the first crop of Liam's Map, Rushie captured the 2020 GII Pat Day Mile S. and placed in four other graded races, including the GI Santa Anita Derby and the GII Blue Grass S. Blue Star Racing also stands GSW & MGISP Breaking Lucky (Lookin At Lucky), whose first foals are currently yearlings.

Now is the time to double down on Louisiana breeding.”
