Ruby Lips, Dam Of Lone Rock, Gerrymander, To Be Offered At Fasig-Tipton November

Ruby Lips, the dam of multiple graded stakes winner Lone Rock and stakes winner Gerrymander, has been supplemented to the Fasig-Tipton November Sale as hip 274. She is in foal to leading third-crop sire Constitution.

Lone Rock was an impressive winner of the Grade 2 Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Stakes on the Breeders' Cup undercard at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in Del Mar, Calif., yesterday in track record time. He now has earnings in excess of $1,000,000.

Gerrymander followed her impressive second-place finish in the G1 Frizette Stakes to Echo Zulu with a win in the Tempted Stakes at Belmont on Friday. The two-year-old daughter of Into Mischief now has earnings over $235,000.

Ruby Lips was a graded stakes-placed performer as a two-year-old and comes from the immediate family of G1 winners Hard Not To Like and Firery Ensign.

“Ruby Lips is a great addition to our catalogue,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning “Rarely does a broodmare have a weekend like this with her two of her offspring winning impressively at the top levels. Her first foal is a multiple graded stakes earner of over $1,000,000 and set a new track record, while her current two-year-old is a stakes winner and Grade 1 placed in just four starts. She's the complete package and in foal to the red-hot stallion Constitution.”

This entry may now be viewed online and will also be available in the Equineline sales catalogue app. Printed versions of the supplemental catalogue will be available on the sales grounds at sale time.

The Fasig-Tipton November Sale will take place on Tuesday, November 9 in Lexington, Kentucky and begins at 2 pm.

Keeneland September Graduates Win Big At Breeders’ Cup

Keeneland's September Yearling Sale produced six winners during the 38th Breeders' Cup World Championships on Nov. 5-6 at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in Del Mar, Calif.: Knicks Go (Grade 1 Classic), Aloha West (G1 Sprint), Life Is Good (G1 Dirt Mil), Golden Pal (G1 Turf Sprint), Corniche (G1 Juvenile), and Echo Zulu (G1 Juvenile Fillies).

A two-time Keeneland sales graduate, Knicks Go initially sold as a weanling for $40,000 at the 2016 November Breeding Stock. He was purchased for $87,000 by owner Korea Racing Authority from Woods Edge Farm, agent, at the 2017 September Sale.

With his 2 3/4-length win in the $6 million Classic, the multiple G1 earner of more than $8.6 million establishes himself as the favorite for Horse of the Year honors.

Aloha West, a graduate of the 2018 September Sale, won the $2 million G1 Qatar Racing Breeders' Cup Sprint by a nose over fellow Keeneland sale graduate Dr. Schivel in a thrilling finish. The son of Hard Spun was consigned to the September Sale by Nursery Place, agent. He finished second in the G2 Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix on Oct. 8 at Keeneland in his final prep for the Breeders' Cup.

Another Fall Meet stakes winner to win a Breeders' Cup race is September Sale alum Golden Pal, who captured the G2 Woodford Presented by TVG on his way to a dominating victory in the $1 million G1 Turf Sprint. The Uncle Mo colt is based at Keeneland with trainer Wesley Ward. He was offered at the 2019 September Sale by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.

September Sale graduates Life Is Good, Ginobili, and Restrainedvengence finished 1-2-3 in the $1 million G1 Big Ass Fans Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile. Life Is Good led gate to wire to record a 5¾-length win, his fourth graded stakes victory this year. China Horse Club and Maverick Racing bought the Into Mischief colt for $525,000 from the consignment of Paramount Sales, agent, at the 2019 September Sale.

Two Keeneland sales graduates who were Breeders' Cup-placed on Saturday are cataloged to the Nov. 10 opening session of the 2021 November Sale. Edgeway, second in the G1 Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint, is consigned by Lane's End as Hip 103. Charmaine's Mia, third in the Turf Sprint, is consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, as Hip 172. Both are cataloged as racing or broodmare prospects.

On Future Stars Friday at Del Mar, Keeneland 2020 September Sale alumni Corniche and Echo Zulu were authoritative winners of the two spotlight races, the $2 million G1 TVG Breeders' Cup Juvenile Presented by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance and $2 million G1 NetJets Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies, respectively.

An unbeaten, multiple Grade 1-winning son of Quality Road, Corniche was offered at the September Sale by Stonehaven Steadings, agent. His half-sister Look Me Over, in foal to Kitten's Joy, is consigned by Hunter Valley Farm as Hip 223 in Book 1 of the upcoming November Sale.

Echo Zulu recorded her third G1 win in the Juvenile Fillies, cruising to an easy 5¼-length victory to keep her perfect record intact and all but clinch the Eclipse Award as champion 2-year-old filly. From the first crop of Gun Runner, Echo Zulu was consigned by Betz Thoroughbreds, agent, and purchased for $300,000 by co-owner Winchell Thoroughbreds.

Keeneland sales graduates swept the top three spots in the Juvenile Fillies, with G1 Darley Alcibiades winner Juju's Map and Tarabi finishing second and third, respectively.

Twilight Gleaming (IRE), winner of the G2 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint, trained for the Breeders' Cup at Keeneland, where she is based with trainer Wesley Ward.

Independence Hall To Stand At WinStar Farm At Conclusion Of Racing Career

Independence Hall, a resounding 7 1/4-length winner of the Grade 2 Fayette Stakes at Keeneland on Oct. 30 and a romping 12 1/4-length winner of the 2019 G3 Nashua Stakes (G3) as an undefeated 2-year-old, will stand stud at WinStar Farm at the conclusion of his racing career, the farm announced today.

He will stand for a fee of $10,000 and he will participate in WinStar's Dream Big Program, which offers breeders the opportunity to earn a lifetime breeding right.

Independence Hall is currently being pointed to either the G1 Clark Handicap Nov. 28 at Churchill Downs or the G1 Cigar Mile at Aqueduct on Dec. 4 and his fee is subject to change following his next start.

From the first crop of WinStar stallion Constitution, the leading third-crop sire of 2021, Independence Hall was an electric 2-year-old. He was undefeated as a juvenile, winning the first two starts of his career by a combined 17 lengths. In his career debut, he won a maiden special weight by 4 3/4 lengths with speed to spare. He jumped straight into graded company in just his second lifetime start, taking the $150,000 G3 Nashua Stakes in impressive fashion. After stalking the early pace in the one-mile event, Independence Hall simply engulfed his rivals around the far turn and ran up the score in the lane, ultimately winning by 12 1/4 lengths, stopping the clock in 1:34.66 and earning a Beyer Speed Figure of 101—the fastest Beyer of any 2-year-old that year.

“Two-year-old form is so important when standing a stallion,” said Elliott Walden, WinStar's president, CEO, and racing manager. “Independence Hall's striking looks combined with his fast figures at two make him a great option at this price point.”

In the Fayette, Independence Hall proved uncatchable. Hustled to the early lead by Javier Castellano, Independence Hall set all the pace in the 1 1/8-mile test. He shrugged off a brief challenge from multiple Grade 1 winner Code of Honor at the top of the lane and rolled to the wire to win by daylight, earning a career-best Beyer Speed Figure of 105 in the sensational effort for trainer Michael McCarthy.

In addition to his impressive stakes victories, Independence Hall finished second to Knicks Go in the $400,000 G3 Lukas Classic Stakes at Churchill Downs on Oct. 2 and was third in the $3 million G1 Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes in January.

All told, Independence Hall has won five of 13 career starts thus far, placed in four others, and earned $874,000 for owners Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Twin Creeks Racing Stables, WinStar Farm, and Robert and Kathleen Verratti. The dark bay colt, a stakes winner at two, three, and four from 6 1/2 furlongs to nine furlongs over all track conditions, was bred in Kentucky by Woodford Thoroughbreds.

“When we bought into him after he broke his maiden, he reminded me of his daddy—a great-looking horse with speed. He's pure athleticism, that's what I look for,” said Randy Gullatt of Twin Creeks Racing Stables. “We will support him like we did Constitution.”

Independence Hall is out of the multiple stakes-producing Cape Town mare Kalahari Cat, dam of Grade 3 winner Black Onyx, stakes winner and Graded stakes-placed Francois, and Grade 2-placed Quality Council. He hails from the immediate family of Breeders' Cup Sprint winner Desert Stormer and multiple Grade 1 winner Better Lucky.
