Initial Supplemental Entries Announced For 2023 Fasig-Tipton November Sale

Fasig-Tipton has cataloged six initial supplemental entries to its 2023 November Sale. The entries, cataloged as hips 247-252, include:

Fun and Feisty (Hip 247): Three-year-old graded stakes winning daughter of Midshipman, she won the Grade 3 Pocahontas Stakes by 3 ½ lengths in her graded stakes debut at two. Offered as a racing/broodmare prospect by Gainesway, agent.

Al Ula Princess (Hip 248): Three-year-old half-sister to G1 Del Mar Debutante Stakes winner Princess Noor is carrying her first foal by brilliant G1 Travers Stakes victor Epicenter. Offered by Gainesway, agent.

Susie's Baby (Hip 249): Dam of graded stakes winner and millionaire Family Way. A winning daughter of Giant's Causeway, Susie's Baby is a half-sister to Group 1 winner and Grade 1 sire Caravaggio and to Grade 2 winner and multiple graded stakes producer My Jen. Offered by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.

Nickname (Hip 250): 10-year-old daughter of Scat Daddy won the G1 Frizette Stakes at two. Her first foal by Galileo (IRE) is a winner this year and she has young offspring by Galileo and Wootten Bassett (GB) and is carrying a foal by popular sire Uncle Mo. Offered by Denali Stud, agent.

Won Happy Mama (Hip 251): Two-year-old daughter of Runhappy won the Iowa Sorority Stakes on Sept. 30 and is a half-sister to current Grade 2 winner Anarchist. Offered as a racing/broodmare prospect by Wynnstay Sales, agent.

Defining Hope (Hip 252): Just nine years old, her current 3-year-old is this year's G1 Ashland Stakes winner Defining Purpose. She is in foal to Cross Traffic, carrying a full sibling to a current Grade 1 winner. Offered by Gainesway, agent.

These entries may now be viewed online and will also be available in the equineline sales catalogue app. Print versions of all supplemental entries will be available on-site at Fasig-Tipton at sale time.

Fasig-Tipton will continue to accept approved supplemental entries through the Breeders' Cup.

The November Sale will be held Tuesday, Nov. 7, in Lexington, Ky., beginning at 2 p.m.

Kentucky Oaks Winner Secret Oath Retired, To Sell At Fasig-Tipton November

Secret Oath, the winner of the 2022 Kentucky Oaks, has been retired from racing due to a minor ankle injury, and she will be offered at next month's Fasig-Tipton November Sale, BloodHorse reports.

The 4-year-old daughter of Arrogate finished her career with six wins in 18 starts, earning $2,444,767 as a homebred for Briland Farm. She was trained by D. Wayne Lukas.

Secret Oath established herself as a top Kentucky Oaks contender during the spring season at Oaklawn Park, where she took the listed Martha Washington Stakes and the Grade 3 Honeybee Stakes. After testing male competition in the G1 Arkansas Derby and finishing third, Secret Oath took command in the stretch of the Kentucky Oaks and drew away to win by two lengths.

She kicked off her 2023 campaign with a victory in the G2 Azeri Stakes, then she finished second in three of her next four starts, most recently turning in a runner-up effort in the G1 Personal Ensign Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 25. The filly was being pointed toward the G1 Spinster Stakes on Oct. 8 at Keeneland before sustaining her injury.

Secret Oath will be offered at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale on Tuesday, Nov. 7 as Hip 180, consigned by Bluewater Sales, agent.

Thacker Joins TOBA October Pedigree, Conformation Clinic Speaker Agenda

The Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Colton Thacker to the list of speakers presenting at the Pedigree and Conformation Clinic on Monday, Oct. 23 at Fasig- Tipton in Lexington, Ky. The day long clinic is strategically positioned the first day of Fasig Tipton's Kentucky October Yearlings sale.

Dr. Thacker attended Utah State University and graduated from Washington State School of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. Upon graduation from veterinary school, he completed an ambulatory internship at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital.

Following his internship, Dr. Thacker underwent a one-year imaging fellowship at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital where he developed additional skills, primarily ultrasonography and radiographic interpretation. His areas of interest include lameness, diagnostic imaging and sales work.

In 2019, Dr. Thacker was chosen among the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association's Veterinarians of the Year.

The TOBA Pedigree and Conformation Clinic is aimed towards all levels of experience – from beginners to knowledgeable owners looking to continue their education. The clinic is open to the general public, with a special discount for TOBA members. Meals, educational materials, and a TOBA gift bag are included in registration.

Sharp Azteca Moving To Japan In 2024

Grade 1 winner and veteran sire Sharp Azteca will stand the 2024 breeding season at Japan's Shizunai Stallion Farm.

The announcement was made Friday by the Japan Bloodhorse Breeders' Association.

The 10-year-old son of Freud previously stood at Three Chimneys Farm in Midway, Ky., where he entered stud in 2019.

From two crops of racing age, Sharp Azteca has sired 71 winners, with combined progeny earnings just shy of $4 million. His leading runners include stakes winners Tyler's Tribe, Sharp Aza Tack, Alma Rosa, and Precious Meadow.

Sharp Azteca is out of the Saint Liam mare So Sharp, hailing from the family of Grade 3 winner and Kentucky Derby runner-up Firing Line and Grade 1 winner Bowies Hero.

During his own on-track career, Sharp Azteca won eight of 17 starts, earning $2,406,740. He won the Grade 3 Pat Day Mile Stakes at three, and he came back at four to notch a victory in the G1 Cigar Mile Handicap, along with Grade 2 scores in the Gulfstream Park Handicap and Kelso Handicap.

Sharp Azteca joins a JBBA stallion roster that also includes U.S. expats Caravaggio, Declaration of War, Noble Mission, Mischevious Alex, Animal Kingdom, Creator, Eskendereya, Cape Blanco, and Squirtle Squirt.
