Champion Enable Delivers First Foal

Enable, a two-time European Horse of the Year, delivered her first foal on Feb. 11, a colt by Kingman.

A release from owner and breeder Juddmonte Farms stated that Enable has taken to her maternal duties “extremely well.”

An 8-year-old daughter of Nathaniel, Enable was a standard-bearer for Juddmonte's homebred program for five seasons, earning honors as European Horse of the Year in 2017 and 2019, along with continental honors as champion 3-year-old filly in 2017 and champion older female in 2018 and 2019.

Enable won 15 of 19 starts and earned $14,062,824, highlighted by three wins in the G1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes, two victories in the G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, and Grade/Group 1 wins in the Breeders' Cup Turf, Epsom Oaks, Irish Oaks, and Yorkshire Oaks.

Kingman is a Juddmonte homebred by Invincible Spirit who earned Europe's Horse of the Year honors in 2014. He stands at Banstead Manor Stud in Suffolk, England.

His runners of note include European champion Palace Pier and multiple Grade 1 winner Domestic Spending.

Enable is scheduled to be bred to global powerhouse Dubawi for her 2022 mating.

Grade 3 Winner Gershwin, Half To Mystic Guide, Retired To Haras Vikeda In Argentina

Gershwin, the winner of last year's Grade 3 Penn Mile Stakes, has been retired from racing and will begin his stud career at Haras Vikeda in Argentina, the South American publication Turf Diario reports.

The 4-year-old son of Distorted Humor recently arrived at Haras Vikeda, closing a career that featured two wins in seven starts as a homebred for Godolphin, for earnings of $265,600.

Trained by Michael Stidham, Gershwin's racing career started during his 3-year-old season, graduating in his second start: a rained-off-the-turf Fair Grounds maiden special weight. He made his graded stakes debut last May in the Grade 3 Penn Mile Stakes at Penn National, where he was once again rained off the turf, but drew off over sloppy goings to win by two lengths.

Gershwin is out of the multiple Grade 1-winning A.P. Indy mare Music Note, making him a half-brother to Dubai World Cup winner Mystic Guide.

‘Good Size And Great Bone’: First Foal Is A Colt For Mr. Monomoy

Mr. Monomoy, the graded stakes-winning half-brother to champion Monomoy Girl, has sired his first foal.

A bay colt out of the Freud mare, Looksgoodfromhere, was foaled Feb. 8 at the breeders' Saratoga Glen Farm, in Schuylerville, N.Y.

“We are extremely pleased with Mr. Monomoy's first foal” says Sean Feld of Climax Stallions. “He's well put together with good size and great bone.”

Mr. Monomoy captured the Grade 2 Risen Star Stakes in 2020 beating the likes of Enforceable, Silver State and Farmington Road. In his career, Mr. Monomoy earned over $300,000.

Owned in partnership between Climax Stallions, Michael Dubb and Madaket Stables, Mr. Monomoy stands the 2022 season for $3,000 LFSN at Waldorf Farm in North Chatham, N.Y.

Take The One O One Retired To Barton Thoroughbreds In California

Northern California Yearling Sale graduate and multiple stakes winner Take the One O One has been retired from racing and will enter stud for the 2022 season at Barton Thoroughbreds for $2,000 LFSN, with special consideration given to approved mares.

The 7-year-old son of Acclamation out of the Jump Start mare North Freeway retires with lifetime earnings of near $500,000. This includes his wins in both the Snow Chief and Real Good Deal Stakes, as well as a third-place finish in the Grade 1 FrontRunner Stakes to Bolt d'Oro and Solomini.

Take the One O One was an early winner at two, yet had the versatility to run long on both the turf and dirt.

Barton Thoroughbreds is pleased to add Take the One O One to their roster on behalf of Jay Em Ess Stable, and the horse is available for inspection at the farm in Santa Ynez, Calif.
