Cotillion Winner Ceiling Crusher Among Latest Fasig-Tipton November Supplemental Entries

Fasig-Tipton has cataloged an additional eight supplemental entries to its 2023 November Sale. These entries are cataloged as Hips 262-269:

Practica Cat (CHI) (Hip 262): Daughter of Practical Joke was a group stakes winner at two and Group 1 placed at three in her native Chile. She is a half-sister to a multiple stakes producer. Consigned as a racing/broodmare prospect by Highgate Sales, agent.

Yuki (CHI) (Hip 263): Group stakes winner and Group 1 placed in Chile at three. Transferred to the United States, she won the Dark Mirage Stakes at Los Alamitos on Sept. 23. She has never been out of the money since coming to the United States. Consigned as a racing/broodmare prospect by Highgate Sales, agent.

Strong Incentive (Hip 264): A stakes winner herself on the racetrack, she has turned out to be an even better broodmare. All four of her foals to race are winners, and three of them are graded stakes performers. She is the dam of graded stakes winner and track record setter Highly Motivated, now at stud in Kentucky; Surge Capacity, winner of this year's Grade 3 Lake George Stakes and entered in Friday's G3 Valley View Stakes; and the highly regarded Ways and Means, impressive debut winner this summer at Saratoga and a troubled second in the G1 Spinaway Stakes. Offered in foal to Good Magic, she is consigned by ELiTE, agent.

Ceiling Crusher (Hip 265): Three-year-old filly defeated Kentucky Oaks winner Pretty Mischievous to win the G1 Cotillion Stakes at Parx on Sept. 23. She is a four-time stakes winner this year, including the G3 Torrey Pines Stakes at Del Mar, and has current earnings of $938,400. Authentic x Marketplace weanling filly (Hip 266): Half-sister to multiple stakes winner Dreamer's Disease.  Her yearling half-brother by Justify sold for $850,000 this year at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.

Munnings x Oh Maybe Baby weanling colt (Hip 267): Half-brother to two winners, including stakes placed Twenty Four Mamba, from the family of multiple graded stakes winner Chewing Gum. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.

Into Mischief x Day of Victory weanling colt (Hip 268): Colt by four-time leading sire Into Mischief is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Finley'sluckycharm. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.

Mylady (GER) (Hip 269): Four-year-old filly was a stakes winner at two and group stakes winner at three in Europe. She also placed in two German classics including the G1 German Oaks. Transferred to the United States, she won the G3 The Very One Stakes at Gulfstream Park in March of this year. She is a half-sister to Maigret (GER), an undefeated stakes winning 2-year-old colt in Europe. Consigned as a broodmare prospect by Lane's End, agent.

These entries may now be viewed online and will also be available in the equineline sales catalogue app. Print versions of all supplemental entries will be available on-site at Fasig-Tipton at sale time.

Fasig-Tipton will continue to accept approved supplemental entries through the Breeders' Cup.

The November Sale will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 7, in Lexington, Ky. The sale will begin at 2 pm.

Justify Colt Lights Up Third Session Of Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearling Sale

The third session of the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings sale was held Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the Newtown Paddocks in Lexington, Ky. A colt by Justify – who currently leads second-crop sires with five Grade 1 winners and 10 graded stakes winners in 2023 – topped the session when sold for $725,000.

Jessie Longoria, agent for Kiehne and Brunson, went to $725,000 to secure the session-topping colt by Justify (Hip 1023) from the consignment of Hunter Valley Farm, agent (video).

The chestnut colt is the second foal out of the winning Hard Spun mare Palace Princess, a granddaughter of Horse of the Year and multiple graded stakes producer Azeri. Hip 1023 was bred in Kentucky by Andre Lynch and Pat Durtschi.

“Overall, we had another solid day today,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning. “Obviously, we had some more fire power today. The top end was very strong.”

The top five prices also included:

– A Practical Joke colt (Hip 1194), sold for $500,000 to Mayberry Farm from the consignment of Hunter Valley Farm, agent. The bay colt is out of the winning Medaglia d'Oro mare Runninwiththewind, from the immediate family of Grade 1 winners Jersey Girl, Jersey Town, and Purge. Hip 1194 was bred in Kentucky by Robert E. Hibbert II.

– A Curlin colt (Hip 809) sold for $460,000 to Donato Lanni, agent for Frank Fletcher Racing Operations, from the consignment of Hunter Valley Farm, agent. The chestnut colt is out of the winning Not For Love mare Love the Chase, making him a half-brother to five winners, including two-time Horse of the Year and multimillionaire California Chrome (Lucky Pulpit). Hip 809 was bred in Kentucky.

– A Curlin filly (Hip 943), sold for $460,000 to Donato Lanni, agent for Michael Lund Petersen, from the consignment of Denali Stud, agent. The bay filly is the second foal out of the graded stakes placed Freud mare Munchkin Money, from the immediate family of champion Echo Zulu and Grade 1 winner Echo Town. Hip 943 was bred in Kentucky by T & G Farm of Kentucky.

– A Medaglia d'Oro filly (Hip 822), sold for $380,000 to Mayberry Farm from the consignment of Paramount Sales, agent. The dark bay or brown filly is the second foal out the stakes winning Tapit mare Magical, a full sister to multiple stakes winner Exulting and a half-sister to recent Grade 3 Monmouth Oaks winner Occult. From the immediate family of Grade 1 winners Dream Tree and Golden Ticket, Hip 822 was bred in Kentucky by Peter E. Blum Thoroughbreds and Godolphin.

“We're actually trending pretty closely to last year's overall numbers, which is pretty remarkable considering how the sale took another huge leap last year,” added Browning. “It's very encouraging to be in the same neighborhood. We look forward to another solid session tomorrow.”

During the Wednesday session, 262 yearlings sold for $14,226,700, good for an average of $54,300. Forty-one yearlings sold for $100,000 or more. Over the course of the first three sessions, 790 yearlings sold for $38,981,000, with an average of $49,343, and 110 sold for $100,000 or more.

Results are available online. The final session of the Kentucky October Yearling Sale begins Thursday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m.

Bernardini, Into Mischief Colts Top Second Session Of Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearling Sale

The second session of the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings Sale was held Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the Newtown Paddocks in Lexington, Ky. A pair of colts by proven sires Bernardini and Into Mischief shared top billing when hammered down for $500,000 each.

A colt by the late Bernardini (Hip 714) was the first to $500,000 when sold to Jesse Longoria, agent for Kiehne and Brunson, from the consignment of Scott Mallory, agent for Determined Stud (video).

The bay colt is the second foal out of the stakes placed Medaglia d'Oro mare Knarsdale, from the immediate family of graded stakes winners Passion for Action and Payton d'Oro. Hip 714 was bred in Kentucky by 2500 Determined Stud.

“It was another solid session today, a continuation of the same trends that we've seen throughout the yearling sales season.” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning. “It's nice to have a $500,000 late in the session and there's still a lot of people here in attendance.”

Also sold for $500,000 was a colt by Into Mischief (Hip 788) purchased by Donato Lanni, agent for SF Bloodstock, Starlight Racing, and Madaket Stables, from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent (video).

The bay colt is out of the graded stakes placed Tiznow mare Live for Now, already the dam of a winner. Live for Now is out of broodmare of the year Turko's Turn, making her a half-sister to eight winners, including Horse of the Year Point Given and Perfect Story, dam of Grade 2 winner Street Story and stakes winner Paige. Hip 788 was bred in Kentucky by Susan Casner.

Rounding out the top five prices of the session were:

– A filly by Uncle Mo (Hip 669), sold for $380,000 to Top McCrocklin, agent for Champion Equine, from the consignment of Mill Ridge Sales, agent. The bay filly is out of the graded stakes winning Congrats mare Jacaranda, making her a half-sister to two winners, including stakes placed American West (American Pharoah), and to Be You (Curlin), recently third in the Grade 1 American Pharoah Stakes at Santa Anita. From the immediate family of Grade 1 winners Constitution, Emcee, and Awesome Humor, Hip 669 was bred in Kentucky by Alpha Delta Stables.

– A filly by Medaglia d'Oro (Hip 414), sold for $350,000 to DJ Stable from the consignment of Anderson Farms, agent. Out of the winning Elusive Quality mare Elusive Luci, a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Stormy Lucy, the bay filly is herself a half-sister to two winners, including Grade 2 winner Big Runnuer (Stormy Atlantic). Hip 414 was bred in Ontario by Anderson Farms.

– A colt by leading sire Into Mischief (Hip 651), sold for $325,000 to M & T Racing from the consignment of Blake-Albina Thoroughbred Services, agent. The bay colt is a half-brother to five winners from as many to race out of the Pulling Punches mare Indy Punch, included multiple Grade 2 winner and millionaire United (Giant's Causeway), graded stakes winner Harlan Punch (Harlan's Holiday), and stakes winner and stakes producer Tensas Punch (War Front). From the immediate family of Grade 1 winner Liaison, Hip 651 was bred in Kentucky by Newtownanner Stud Farm.

“(There's a) great crowd, plenty of action, plenty of bidders,” added Browning. “We're looking forward to doing it again tomorrow and Thursday.”

During the Tuesday session, 260 yearlings sold for $12,856,500, good for an average of $49,448. Thirty-one yearlings sold for $100,000 or more. Over the course of the first two sessions, 520 yearlings sold for $24,157,300, with an average of $46,456, and 67 sold for $100,000 or more.

Cross Traffic Filly Tops 2023 Ohio Fall Mixed Sale

The Ohio Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Fall Mixed Sale took place Oct. 18 at Mahoning Valley Race Course, topped by a $15,000 yearling filly by Cross Traffic.

A total of 42 horses changed hands during the single-day sale, bringing in revenues of $173,250 and an average sale price of $4,125.

A yearling Cross Traffic filly led the proceedings, going to William Blondy for $15,000.

The gray or roan filly is out of the winning Proud Citizen mare Classy Citizen, who is the dam of three winners from four foals to race. Classy Citizen is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Nereid, herself a stakes producer, and Grade 1-placed stakes winner Sea Queen.

The filly was bred in Ohio by Sara Stanoszek, and she was consigned by On Track Training Center.

The auction's second-highest price came from Gatha's Song, a 2-year-old Solomini filly who sold to Maria Molnar for $12,500 out of the supplemental catalog.

Consigned by R.A. Rowe Farms, the unraced bay filly is out of the winning Rock Hard Ten mare Lyrique, whose four winners from six foals to race includes stakes-placed Lyrical Note. Her second dam is the Grade 2-placed stakes winner America America, with an extended family that includes Grade 2 winner So Long George and Grade 1-placed My Gal Betty.

Gatha's Song was bred in Ohio by Robert Allen Rowe.
