Arcangelo to Lane’s End on Retirement

Blue Rose Farm's Arcangelo (Arrogate–Modeling, by Tapit), a likely favorite for the upcoming GI Breeders' Cup Classic, will enter stud at Lane's End Farm at the conclusion of his racing career. The gray went to the head of the sophomore division with victories in the GI Belmont S. and GI Travers S. He also captured this year's GIII Peter Pan S.

“It has been a surreal experience to own a horse of this magnitude,” said owner Jon Ebbert. “The day I laid eyes on him at the yearling sale, I said to myself that this is the most beautiful horse I have ever seen. I'm so blessed the way everything unfolded and so appreciative of my team. To win the Belmont, the Travers and looking as the possible favorite in the Breeders' Cup is incredible. From the beginning of this journey, I tried to make every right decision for this horse, and now I have another important one to make. Upon his retirement, I've chosen Lane's End as the perfect fit for his stallion career.”

Trainer Jena Antonucci, who became the first woman to saddle the winner of a Triple Crown race when Arcangelo captured the Belmont, added, “Having the opportunity to steward Arcangelo thus far in his racing career has been the absolute blessing of a lifetime, for which I will be eternally grateful for. Watching him grow into his mental and physical greatness has been remarkable. We will be excited to see the talent of his progeny and watching Arcangelo pass along his innate ability, talent, and desire to be a champion.”

By champion Arrogate, the sire of five Grade I winners in his brief career at stud, Arcangelo was bred by Don Alberto Corporation. His dam Modeling, a $2.85-million Keeneland November broodmare purchase, is a half-sister to Streaming (Smart Strike), winner of the GI Hollywood Starlet S. She hails from the family of broodmare of the year and prolific producer Better Than Honour, the dam of back-to-back Belmont winners Rags to Riches and Jazil.

Up to the Mark to Lane’s End Upon Conclusion of Racing Career

Repole Stable and St. Elias Stable's MGISW Up to the Mark (Not This Time–Belle's Finale, by Ghostzapper), will enter stud at Lane's End Farm at the conclusion of his racing career, the Kentucky Farm announced on Monday. The 4-year-old colt, who won the GI Manhattan S. At Belmont Park and the GI Turf Classic Stakes in his last two starts, has so far amassed a career line of 10-5-0-2, $1158,650 and is trained by Todd Pletcher.

“He's a horse that we were always high on since he was two,” trainer Todd Pletcher said. “He broke his maiden first out on the dirt, but with the switch to the turf he really put that talent on display with his tremendous turn of foot. His impressive wins in the Turf Classic and the Manhattan showed that he is one of the top grass horses in the U.S., and his speed figures back that up.”

Bred in Kentucky by Ramspring Farm, Up to the Mark was a $450,000 Keeneland September Yearling Sale purchase in 2020. His dam, Belle's Finale, is a daughter of GISW Capote Belle (Capote), a full sister to GSP and stakes producer Zapper Belle (Ghostzapper).

“Up to the Mark's versatility and looks are what initially attracted Lane's End,” Lane's End's Bill Farish said. “He has a dirt pedigree and is by an emerging young sire. He really showed that he is one of the top turf horses in the U.S. with his dominating wins in back-to-back grade ones. We have a history in standing stallions that can get runners on all three surfaces and feel Up to the Mark has the potential to follow in that tradition.”

Catching Up with 2022 Breeders’ Cup Classic Winner Flightline

By all accounts, the undefeated GI Breeders' Cup Classic winner Flightline was truly a once-in-a-generation horse. Like the legendary A.P. Indy, his great-grandsire who also stood at Lane's End, Flightline was a seven-figure yearling fashioned into a Horse of the Year, but it was the way he made very good horses look like ordinary mortals that cemented his acclaim. Flightline completed his first season at stud this year; will he also follow in A.P. Indy's footsteps and become a breed-shaping sire?

“Flightline had an excellent start at stud, covering 152 mares including more than 50 Grade I mares or Grade I producers,” said Lane's End Farm's Bill Farish. “There's obviously a huge amount of excitement about his first foals, we can't wait to see them.”

Honor Code To Stand At Yushun Stallion Station

MGISW Honor Code (A.P. Indy) has been sold and will stand the 2024 breeding season at Yushun Stallion Station in Japan, Lane's End Farm said in a release Thursday.

The 12-year-old, who will take his place alongside notable sires such as Henny Hughes (Hennessy) will offer an outcross to the many Sunday Silence mares there.

Bred in Kentucky by Dell Ridge and campaigned by that farm along with Lane's End Racing, Honor Code entered stud at Lane's End in 2016.

“We are hopeful that on completion of his stud career Honor Code will return to Lane's End. He has provided us with so many memories. We would love to have him back some day,” said Bill Farish of Lane's End Farm.
