Plusvital Supports Naas Flat Season

Irish equine nutrition company Plusvital will support Naas's 2021 flat season, which kicks off on Mar. 28, with sponsorship of the Listed Plusvital Devoy S. Plusvital will also provide equine care packs to all winning grooms of best-turned out awards at Naas throughout the season. There will be 12 flat meetings staged at Naas this season through Oct. 31 with a minimum of 92 races.

Ciara Watt, general manager of Plusvital, said, “The team at Plusvital are delighted to develop our partnership with Naas Racecourse for the 2021 Flat season. The Thoroughbred industry has been central to our success for over 40 years and it is important to us to support it. We understand the incredible care given to all these horses and the unwavering dedication and commitment it takes to have them looking and feeling well.”

Eamonn McEvoy, general manager of Naas Racecourse, added, “We are delighted that Plusvital are back with us again sponsoring The Plusvital Devoy S. in 2021. The support they are showing the industry is a credit to them but more importantly the grooms care pack they are putting in place for the grooms has really impressed me. Great credit must go to Ciara Watt and her team on bringing this concept into play. The grooms in our industry are a credit to their trade and consistently turn their horses out impeccably–we are thrilled to see Plusvital's recognition of that.”

HRI Launches Best Turned Out League

Horse Racing Ireland has announced the Irish Thoroughbred Welfare Council best-turned out league, in which participating racecourses will compile their best turned out winners with the data to be aggregated by HRI and cash prizes to be awarded to the best performing yards.

John Osborne, equine welfare and bloodstock director at HRI, said, “The care of our horses is largely in the hands of our stable staff whose work is greatly appreciated. The presentation of the horses is really a reflection of all the days spent preparing the horses at home. The best turned out league will particularly highlight the yards which consistently do well even if they are at a numerical disadvantage. The work required is the same, whether the yard is small or large.”
