Jason Wilson Named Chief Operating Officer Of 1/ST Content

1/ST Content, the innovative operating group for all of 1/ST's media and content companies, has announced the appointment of respected industry executive Jason Wilson as chief operating officer.

Wilson will work directly with Aidan Butler, president, 1/ST Content, to further develop and align the company's North American and international content businesses. He will focus on innovating Thoroughbred racing content programs and building competitive platforms to service customers in dynamic new ways.

“I am thrilled to have Jason, a well-known and knowledgeable industry executive who shares our vision for the future of our sport, as part of the 1/ST team,” said Butler. “Jason's appointment as chief operating officer is an important next step for 1/ST Content as we continue to harness new technologies and modernize the way racing content is produced and distributed.”

Wilson previously served as president and chief operating officer for Equibase Company, the Thoroughbred industry's official database of racing information and statistics and as the vice president of business development for The Jockey Club and president of TJC Media Ventures.

Prior to joining The Jockey Club, he spent three years as the assistant general counsel for SoftNet Systems, Inc./Aerzone Corporation in San Francisco and later served as an associate in the Healthcare Investment Banking group of Deutsche Bank Securities and as vice president in the real estate, gaming and lodging group of Banc of America Securities.

Former FBI Agent Rob D’Amico Appointed Chief Security Officer For 1/ST

1/ST has appointed former Federal Bureau of Investigation Supervisory Special Agent Rob D'Amico as Chief Security Officer for the 1/ST group of companies.

D'Amico will lead an integrated security team that will focus on elevating and enforcing safety and integrity protocols across 1/ST businesses. The security team will support and implement best practices for 1/ST RACING, 1/ST TECHNOLOGY, 1/ST EXPERIENCE, 1/ST CONTENT and 1/ST PROPERTIES and will work directly with 1/ST HORSE CARE to achieve the highest safety standards in Thoroughbred horse racing. The appointment of D'Amico as Chief Security Officer provides an increased layer of protection and security oversight on the backstretch, for guests at 1/ST venues and online, for employees and the company's advanced IT systems.

D'Amico has over 26 years of experience and served in the top echelons of federal law enforcement and over 35 years of service to the United States government. Most recently, he served as the FBI's Legal Attaché US Embassy Kabul, running all FBI operations in Afghanistan. D'Amico has participated in some of the United States' most sensitive and highly visible investigations and operations around the world. Highly regarded in the law enforcement and intelligence community, D'Amico has been awarded with both the FBI's and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police's highest medals for meritorious achievement.

Stronach Group Tracks Announce Continuing Support Of Jockeys’ Guild

1/ST RACING and the Jockeys' Guild announced this week that 1/ST RACING will continue its long-term support of the Jockeys' Guild and its member jockeys.

Under the terms of the Agreement effective Jan. 1, 2021, each of 1/ST RACING's venue racetracks (Santa Anita Park, Golden Gate Fields, Gulfstream Park, and The Maryland Jockey Club operating Pimlico Race Course and Laurel Park) will continue to make payments to the Jockeys' Guild to subsidize health, life and accident insurances, as well as short-term and long-term disability benefits for jockeys who are members of the Guild and ride at 1/ST RACING racetracks.

“1/ST RACING is pleased to continue supporting the Jockeys' Guild,” said Craig Fravel, Chief Executive Officer, 1/ST RACING. “Guild members compete daily at 1/ST RACING venues and their safety and well-being is integral to our sport, during and after their careers. 1/ST RACING looks forward to continue working with the Jockeys' Guild to advance and promote safe racing for horse and rider.”
