Pritchard Webb Joins Auctav

Jacob Pritchard Webb, a former jockey and work rider in France who was left paraplegic after an accident, has joined Auctav as its representative in England and Ireland.

“I've teamed up with Auctav because they are a young and new company that so far have been successful with its concept of online auctions,” said Pritchard Webb. “I believe they have a talented team who source the best horses possible and to be a part of that for me is brilliant.”

“Jacob Pritchard Webb will be the repesentative of Auctav in Ireland and England,” said Arnaud Angeliaume, general director of Auctav. “Jacobs represents the perfect link with the French market. He is known on both sides of the Channel and he is still passionate about horse racing. Above all, the whole Auctav team admires the strength of character he showed after his accident. He speaks perfectly French and English and he will be an essential asset for us.”

Djelo Tops Auctav November Sale

The winning 3-year-old gelding Djelo (Fr) (Montmartre {Fr}) brought a sale-topping €140,000 from bloodstock agent Guy Petit during the Auctav November Sale on Wednesday. Offered as lot 1bis by Ecurie Augustin de Boisbrunet, the bay won at Nancy and is going to trainer Venetia Williams. Petit was also in action for lot 3bis, Zopito (Fr) (No Risk At All {Fr}), who was consigned by Jerome Delaunay. Placed on debut, he made €55,000 and will be trained by Stuart Coltherd. For the full results, please visit the Auctav website.

“This last sale of the year almost felt like our very first sale,” said Auctav Managing Director Arnaud Angeliaume. “We are delighted with the great sale of Djelo. We could see that the Auctav concept had really been successful because of its flexibility between monthly sales, wild cards and flash sales. We had a lot of customers connected during this session and a lot of

bidding that went into extra time, especially for Djelo's wild card which reached €140,000.

“The Auctav app, launched this week, had its first test. It worked well in real time and we are really very happy with this innovation which will further facilitate the customer experience.”

Purplepay Unsold at €1.35m as Milldam Makes €145k at Auctav

The latest Auctav Flash Sale concluded on Thursday, with G1 Criterium International third Purplepay (Fr) (Zarak {Fr}) unsold at €1,350,000 and 3-year-old gelding Milldam (Fr) (Martaline {GB}) knocked down for €145,000 to Lucy Snowden. Placed three times hurdling, Milldam (lot 1) is from the family of Dayladam (Fr) (Cyborg {Fr}) and Polidam (Fr) (Trempolino). He will be trained by Jamie Snowden and is bound for the Cheltenham Festival.

Co-owners Jean-Pierre Dubois and Ecurie Hunter Valley will be keeping Purplepay (lot 2). Trained by Cedric Rossi, the filly has only been off the board once in eight starts and sports a Vichy maiden win and a pair of conditions wins at Marseille Borely on Sept. 9 and at ParisLongchamp on Oct. 2. Bred by Lemiere Dubois, she originally hammered at €100,000 during the 2020 Arqana September Yearling Sale in Deauville.

“Seeing seven-figure auctions, is what we dreamed of when we created Auctav in March 2021 and I can only be happy about that because we were honored by the confidence of Purplepay's vendors in this Flash Sale,” said Auctav Managing Director Arnaud Angeliaume. “A sale would have really been the icing on the cake, but seeing the international interest Purplepay generated strengthens our confidence in our 100% online philosophy and in the Flash Sales system. The purchase of Milldam by Lucy Snowden shows that some of our buyers are already becoming regulars, satisfied with their first experience on our platform. We can only thank Richard Corveller and Arnaud Chaillé-Chaillé. They are not what you could call regulars at auctions and they have placed their trust in Auctav.”

Purplepay To Be Offered On Auctav

Purplepay (Fr) (Zarak {Fr}), winner of the Haras de Bouquetot – Criterium Arqana and third in the G1 Criterium International last weekend, will be offered in an Auctav Flash Sale on Nov. 4.

A €100,000 Arqana October yearling, Purplepay broke her maiden at fourth asking and in her second try over a mile four weeks before taking the Criterium Arqana by four lengths. She was a staying on third behind the colts Angel Bleu (Fr) (Dark Angel {Ire}) and Ancient Rome (War Front) in the Gran Criterium, clocking the fastest final furlong of any horse in the race.

“If she would have been able to kick on at the same time as Angel Bleu, it is sure that the victory would have been hotly contested,” said trainer Cedric Rossi. “She really proved that she was a Group 1 filly by finishing behind the first and third in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere. She recovered extremely well and she is today in great shape.”
