Auctav’s First 2024 Sale Goes Live Tuesday

French online auction house Auctav will host their January sale starting Tuesday, Jan. 16 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. CET, and among the offerings are two flat runners, namely Qantiem (Fr) (Anodin {Ire}) and Sinnerman (Fr) (Territories {Ire}). The former, a half-brother to MSP-Fr Layla (Fr) (Lope de Vega {Ire}), is out of a half-sister to multiple Group 1 winner Reliable Man (GB) (Dalakhani {Ire}) and multiple Group winner Imposing (GB).

Sinnerman claims Peruvian champion grass mare GSP-Arg Sissy Chanel (Tapizar) as a half-sister and hails from the female line of Old Domesday Book (GB), whose daughters produced no less than three multiple Group and Grade I performers. Both offerings are winners on the Polytrack while Sinnerman also has a victory over 1200 metres on the turf.

The full catalog can be found on their website.

Auctav Flash Sale To Feature Group 1-Placed Mare

Group 1-placed mare Diva Donna (Fr) (Cima De Triomphe {Ire}), who holds an entry in the G1 Prix Royal-Oak on Oct. 29, will be offered during an Auctav Flash Sale on Wednesday, Oct. 25. The sale will last from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the Auctav website.

Offered by trainer and co-owner Julien Carayon, the mare was second in the G3 Prix Belle de Nuit last October, and was placed in a Chantilly listed in April. She reached a new career high with a runner-up performance in the G1 Prix de Royallieu on Sept. 30.

Carayon said, “Her second place in the Prix de Royallieu was the confirmation of everything she has shown since joining the stable. She is an easy mare who is only now reaching her full maturity, which is often the case for stayers. She is very tall, measuring 16.2hh. Diva Donna is incredible, and she has even done a bit of jumping. She has a beautiful way of moving.”

Out of the Dunkerque (Fr) mare Grande Synthe (Fr), the mare was bred by GFA Du Pont Rouge.

Purplepay Unsold at €1.35m as Milldam Makes €145k at Auctav

The latest Auctav Flash Sale concluded on Thursday, with G1 Criterium International third Purplepay (Fr) (Zarak {Fr}) unsold at €1,350,000 and 3-year-old gelding Milldam (Fr) (Martaline {GB}) knocked down for €145,000 to Lucy Snowden. Placed three times hurdling, Milldam (lot 1) is from the family of Dayladam (Fr) (Cyborg {Fr}) and Polidam (Fr) (Trempolino). He will be trained by Jamie Snowden and is bound for the Cheltenham Festival.

Co-owners Jean-Pierre Dubois and Ecurie Hunter Valley will be keeping Purplepay (lot 2). Trained by Cedric Rossi, the filly has only been off the board once in eight starts and sports a Vichy maiden win and a pair of conditions wins at Marseille Borely on Sept. 9 and at ParisLongchamp on Oct. 2. Bred by Lemiere Dubois, she originally hammered at €100,000 during the 2020 Arqana September Yearling Sale in Deauville.

“Seeing seven-figure auctions, is what we dreamed of when we created Auctav in March 2021 and I can only be happy about that because we were honored by the confidence of Purplepay's vendors in this Flash Sale,” said Auctav Managing Director Arnaud Angeliaume. “A sale would have really been the icing on the cake, but seeing the international interest Purplepay generated strengthens our confidence in our 100% online philosophy and in the Flash Sales system. The purchase of Milldam by Lucy Snowden shows that some of our buyers are already becoming regulars, satisfied with their first experience on our platform. We can only thank Richard Corveller and Arnaud Chaillé-Chaillé. They are not what you could call regulars at auctions and they have placed their trust in Auctav.”

Icone d’Aubrelle Brings €150,000 at Latest Auctav Sale

The latest Auctav Flash Sale saw winning 3-year-old gelding Icone d'Aubrelle (Fr) (Cokoriko {Fr}) bring €150,000 from Highflyer Bloodstock. A winner at Bordeaux-le-Bouscat, Icone d'Aubrelle is from a versatile Aga Khan female family that has performed with credit on the Flat and over jumps.

“He's not a particularly precocious horse but he has a lot of improvement. I really liked when he won in Bordeaux after making a huge mistake at the penultimate hurdle. He will have a break for six months to let him grow and strengthen. He will then be trained in England for an English owner,” explained bloodstock agent David Powell.

Dual winner Purplepay (Fr) (Zarak {Fr}) was withdrawn and is targeting the G1 Criterium International at Saint-Cloud on Oct. 23.

“We are very pleased with the sale of Icone d'Aubrelle,” said Auctav General Director Arnaud Angeliaume. “This 3-year-old gelding really appealed to us and we thank all those who showed interest in him and Highflyer Bloodstock for this purchase. We would obviously have liked to see the auction with Purplepay but we respect the decision and the ambitions of her connections.

“Auctav is delighted that 100% of the horses presented during our Flash Sales have sold. It's a concept that works, both for sellers who can organize auctions in a matter of days, and for buyers who are offered horses on the up.”
