Auctav Winter Breeding Catalogues Online

The Winter Breeding Sale catalogues, featuring lots from all disciplines, was unveiled by Auctav on Wednesday. Held on Thursday, Dec. 1, beginning at 11 a.m., the Auctav Winter Breeding Stock Sale of Stallion Shares features stallion shares and breeding rights of trotters, National Hunt and Flat stallions. Lot 4 is a half-share in three-time Group 1 winner Persian King (Ire), while there is also a breeding right in G1 Irish Derby hero Latrobe (Ire) as lot 5.

Later on Dec. 1 beginning at 4 p.m., there will also be the Auctav Winter Breeding Stock Sale, featuring fillies and mares. Some of the stallions represented by in foal mares include Zelzal (Fr) and Wooded (Ire).

Arnaud Angeliaume, Auctav General Manager, said, “It is a great satisfaction to have gathered all those lots. Having an “open” sale was essential to us to avoid overloading an already dense calendar. It is a date that we want to keep for the long term. Auctav and online sales have significant advantages for this type of sale because the broodmares avoid travel and all the health risks that go with it. We care about the health and well-being of those who are the industry's future.”

Auctav Breeding Stock Sales Announced

Breeding stock sales, for several breeds, will be held on Nov. 23 and Dec. 1, respectively, Auctav announced. The November Sale is dedicated exclusively to Purebred Arabians, while the Dec. 1 sale is open to Flat horses, National Hunt horses (Thoroughbred and AQPS) and trotters.

Arnaud Angeliaume, Auctav General Director, said, “I am delighted with the creation of these two sales. The Auctav Arabian Autumn Sale shows the ability we have had to set up dynamism in the Purebred Arabian market and more particularly in this breeding aspect.

“As for this new breeding sale, it is the consequence of the success of past sales. The conditions of the sales but also of the results of these sales have prompted sellers to ask us for the same format. What's made its special features is to have a single date for all racing codes because for everyone, it is a pivotal period in the breeding calendar, either for trotters or thoroughbreds and NH horses.”

Just A Princess Tops Arqana Grand Steeple Sale

Arqana's Grand Steeple Sale at Saint-Cloud Racecourse grossed €2,313,000 with 29 lots sold from 35 (83%) through the ring. The Magdalen Bryant Dispersal accounted for €1,043,000 of that total, which consisted of the first 21 lots in the catalogue. The average was €79,759 and the median was €55,000.

An even 10 lots made six figures or better, and it was the AQPS Just A Princess (Fr) (Ivanhowe {Ger}) (lot 5), a member of trainer David Cottin's consignment and part of that dispersal, that topped the sale. The sophomore was knocked down for €260,000 on a bid from Anthony Bromley's Highflyer Bloodstock. She holds an entry into the G3 Prix Sagan at Saint-Cloud on Saturday.

Bromley was also in action for the second-highest lot on the day, the €200,000 Zarak The Brave (Fr) (Zarak {Fr}) (lot 8). Offered by Stephane Wattel, the bay is already a winner on the Flat and will be sent to Willie Mullins to further his career in the National Hunt sphere.

After the sale, Bryant's daughter KC Graham said, “This is a very special day for us, full of emotion. What can I say, we are very happy with the results of this sale. The horses sold well, they were eagerly awaited and it's a great tribute to our mother and to David Powell. We loved David's genius, to whom we owe today's results.”
