Sarah Thompson Joins EQUIX as Equine Analyst

EQUIX, a Lexington, Ky.-based bloodstock agency, has appointed Sarah Thompson as an Equine Analyst.

Thompson brings a diverse background in all aspects of the Thoroughbred industry. She most recently served as Sales Coordinator and Client Relations for South Point Sales Agency, and worked for other top consignors such as Gainesway, Bluewater, and Hidden Brook.

Her dozen years of hands-on experience include yearlings and sales prep, horses in training with Jonathan Sheppard and at Bridlewood's training division, and mares and foals as assistant manager at Paul's Mill and Timber Town farms in Kentucky. Her previous roles expanded to include partnership management and pinhooking.

“We are excited to have Sarah on the EQUIX team,” said Suzanne Smallwood, EQUIX President. “Sarah's background is an ideal fit for us and she offers our clients a high degree of experience in selecting young racing prospects for purchase.”

Patrick Diamond Joins The Castlebridge Consignment

Patrick Diamond has joined The Castlebridge Consignment in a new role as Sales Executive based in Newmarket. Immersed in the breeding industry with his father Peter Diamond-who served as Stud Groom to Lady Tavistock at the historic Bloomsbury Stud–Diamond apprenticed for Weatherbys, Paul & Sarah Thorman of Trickledown Stud and Arrowfield Stud in Australia before graduating from the Irish National Stud Course in 2014. Over the last six years, he served in the role of Nominations & Bloodstock Management at The Irish National Stud, where he was responsible for the trading of nominations, as well as the management of bloodstock and the sourcing of new stallion prospects.

Based in Newmarket UK alongside Castlebridge director Andrew Mead, Diamond's role as Sales Executive will see him front-of-house at Sales in England and Ireland developing relationships with new and existing clients, whilst exploring new opportunities for Castlebridge. Diamond will also continue in Stallion Nominations sales.

Vance Named Exec VP of Remington, Lone Star

Matt Vance has been named executive vice president of racing for Remington Park in Oklahoma City and Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas. As executive vice president for both tracks, he will oversee all mutuels/simulcasting, operations, track maintenance and racing operations.

“For several years, Matt has overseen racing operations at Remington Park and over the past couple years he has served in an advisory role at Lone Star Park,” Skip Seeley, Global Gaming Solutions CEO. “His leadership and commitment to horse racing helped us navigate a very trying time during the pandemic at both tracks. He led the 2020 Quarter Horse Season through uncharted territory that enabled racing to continue throughout the pandemic. He then used that experience to guide health and safety protocols and operations in Grand Prairie when its season opened.”

Vance received the 2020 Gordon Crone Special Achievement Award from the American Quarter Horse Association for his work during the pandemic.

Vance served as vice president of racing operations at Remington Park since 2015. He worked at Louisiana Downs in 1986 then to Remington Park from 1988-1997. He moved to other tracks for six years and eventually returned to Remington Park in 2003 for the construction of the casino, and the transition to new ownership in Global Gaming Solutions in 2010.

Mark Richards Joins Goffs as British Agent

Mark Richards, who has fulfilled a variety of roles with the Hong Kong Jockey Club for the past 20 years, has been appointed to the newly created role of British Agent for Goffs, the sales company announced on Monday.

Richards, most recently HKJC Executive Manager of the International Sale, begins on May 1. Originally a National Hunt jockey, Richards has been in the racing industry for 45 years and has contributed to a number of media outlets including the Racing Post, Daily Telegraph, Racing Channel, Sky and TVN. His primary duties for Goffs include attracting new and existing British buyers to sales at Kildare Paddocks with an emphasis on promoting the flagship Goffs Orby, November and Land Rover Sales.

Commenting on the appointment, Goffs Group Chief Executive, Henry Beeby said, “We are delighted to welcome Mark to the Goffs team.  A familiar face at Kildare Paddocks during his time buying for the Hong Kong Jockey Club, he brings a wealth of experience and an extensive list of contacts to the role, while his passion for racing, personable approach and reputation of working to the highest standards ties in perfectly with the Goffs ethos.
