Amplify Horse Racing Launches Therapy Partnership with BetterHelp

Amplify Horse Racing will partner with leading online therapy platform BetterHelp to offer members of the equine industry one month of free therapy. This new benefit precedes an upcoming virtual event by Amplify Wednesday, May 24 that will include a discussion about mental health for future and current Thoroughbred industry employees. It can be attended via Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube from 12-1:00 p.m. and pre-registration is not required.

The partnership Amplify has arranged with BetterHelp will give users a free month of therapy (up to four (4) live sessions with a therapist that is specifically assigned to their individual preferences), and a discount to the platform thereafter. Any future or current equine industry participants or employees of all ages are welcomed to take advantage of this service through the use of code 9b8d2 on the website here. Amplify will not know who is receiving therapy, and won't have access to users personal data.

BetterHelp has over 25,000 therapists across the U.S., services in 50+ languages, and support in over 200 countries. Users can communicate with their therapist via phone, video and live chat, and can message their therapist at any time. Therapists on BetterHelp are licensed, trained, experienced, and accredited psychologists (PhD/PsyD), marriage and family therapists (LMFT), clinical social workers (LCSW/LMSW), or licensed professional counselors (LPC). All have a Master's or Doctorate Degree in their field, and have been qualified and certified by their state's professional board after successfully completing the necessary education, exams, training, and practice. While their experience, expertise and backgrounds vary, they all possess at least 3 years and 2,000 hours of hands-on experience.

Applications Open For Amplify Mentorship Program

Applications for the spring 2023 intake of the Amplify Horse Racing Mentorship Program are now open through Friday, Feb. 3. The program connects youth and young adults interested in the Thoroughbred industry with experienced industry professionals who can offer career guidance. Mentee candidates should demonstrate a desire to learn and an interest in working in the equine industry. The suggested age range is 15-25, with no restrictions based on academic achievement.

Since its launch in 2021, the Amplify Horse Racing Mentorship Program has produced nearly 30 graduates, and propelled its participants to jobs, internships and educational pursuits within various fields of the equine industry. These include media, racetrack and farm work, pari-mutuel wagering, sales, ownership, and veterinary medicine. Notably, the program has accepted mentees from 17 different states and territories.

“In a relatively short period of time, this program has inspired many young people who might not have known they have a place in the Thoroughbred industry, and given them direction on what avenue they want to take,” said Amplify executive director Annise Montplaisir. “This year we are excited to offer travel awards through the program so that a few dedicated mentees have the opportunity to experience the industry first-hand.”

To learn more about the program and apply today, visit www.amplifyhorseracing.org/mentorship, or contact info@amplifyhorseracing.org for more information. Amplify will open applications for the fall program intake in June.

Montplaisir Appointed Executive Director of Amplify Horse Racing

Amplify Horse Racing, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to education, mentorship and career opportunities in the Thoroughbred industry for youth and young adults, has announced the appointment of Annise Montplaisir as executive director.

Guided by a goal to develop a platform for youth in horse racing, Montplaisir co-founded Amplify with Madison Scott in 2019, and has served as the organization's president since its incorporation in 2020. Scott remains on the board of directors alongside Price Bell, Jordyn Egan, Hallie Hardy, Laurel Humbert-Stock, Katie LaMonica, and Cate Masterson.

Originally from Fargo, North Dakota, and an alumna of North Dakota State University, Montplaisir completed internships with Fasig-Tipton, Keeneland and Mill Ridge Farm before getting accepted into the Godolphin Flying Start Program. Her professional background includes project managing for global networking organization Together for Racing International (TfRI), co-hosting Hípica TV's Spanish coverage of the Breeders' Cup in 2021 and 2022, and producing and co-hosting the Spanish language online horse racing program, La Trifecta, with America's Best Racing. Montplaisir recently culminated a 2-year term as equine education coordinator of the Kentucky Equine Education Project (KEEP) Foundation.

“It is an honor for me to work with Amplify Horse Racing to showcase how enriching the Thoroughbred industry can be,” said Montplaisir. “From the time I started my own career journey in horse racing, my ambition has been to streamline the pathway for other youth to be involved. Amplify fulfills that purpose by creating new opportunities and promoting existing initiatives, and I believe it is going to be impactful in the lives of many youth.”
