The Listed Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Orby S. will carry prize-money of €45,000 when it takes place on the same programme as the G1 Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas on Saturday, May 25, while the €100,000 G3 Al Basti Equiworld Dubai International S. will be staged on day two of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Festival on Saturday, June 29.

Malih Al Basti, Al Basti Equiworld founder and CEO, said, “The Curragh is established as one of the leading racecourses and training centres in the world and we are very pleased to be able to associate our brand with such an historic venue by adding our name to stakes races at two of the most prestigious weekends of racing in Europe.

Al Basti Equiworld Increases Salisbury Sponsorship

Al Basti Equiworld Dubai has extended its support for Salisbury Racecourse by putting its name to the City Bowl, which is to be run on Thursday, May 16 for £24,000.

The same meeting features the Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Apprentice Handicap, the first  in a five-race series, and two further contests for three-year-old novices on the seven-race programme will carry the sponsor's branding on what will be known as Al Basti Equiworld Dubai City Bowl Stakes Day.

The company's founder Malih Al Basti said, “We were pleased to support Salisbury in their efforts to promote opportunities for young riders, and we have been delighted with the success of the Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Racing Excellence Apprentice Series.  When the opportunity arose to extend our partnership we did not hesitate.”

Prizes of £1,500, £1,000 and £500 will be awarded to the three riders amassing the most points in the series, which was won last year by 21-year-old Olivia Tubb, who is apprenticed to Jonathan Portman.

Blooming Marvellous Al Basti Equiworld Initiative

The winning connections on the second day of Newmarket's Cambridgeshire Meeting this Friday will be presented with a sustainable memento courtesy of the day's sponsor, Al Basti Equiworld Dubai.

On top of the £440,000 of prize-money on offer across seven races, owners and trainers will be presented with a three-metre tree of their choice supplied by locally-based nursery, Barchams, who will have a range of trees on display at the course.

“Trees are such an important contributor to the health and beauty of our planet,' said owner and breeder Malih Al Basti, founder of Al Basti Equiworld Dubai, which is the UAE's leading distributor of horse feeds and supplements.

“Whenever I travel I try to make time to take an interest in the natural surroundings, and in the UK I am always staggered by the variety of trees.

“As a racehorse owner for many years I appreciate the significance of race trophies. With Al Basti Equiworld Dubai-sponsored races we try to be innovative and to source locally. This initiative offers us the opportunity to fulfil both these ambitions.”

Another unusual twist to the day's racing comes in the form of the cover of the day's race cards which will be made from 'seed paper'. Once removed and planted, the biodegradable cover will release its seeds to create a wildflower bloom.

To mark the occasion a tree will be planted by Al Basti in the pre-parade ring on the Rowley Mile.  The Crataegus laevigata, otherwise known as 'Paul's Scarlet', is a British native species and has been chosen because it traditionally flowers in early May, in time for the QIPCO Guineas Festival.

“Newmarket is one of my favourite racecourses in the world,” he said.  “I am delighted that the racecourse executive has accepted this gift as a token of my affection and recognition of the work they do to support horsemen and the wider racing community.”
