Fellowes to Train For Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum

Charlie Fellowes, who trains from Bedford House Stables, will condition horses for Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum. Sheikh Ahmed is the owner of international Group 1 winner Addeybb (Ire) (Pivotal {GB}).

“Sheikh Ahmed on the roster is a real boost, said Fellowes. “He is a really wonderful owner to have in the yard. It is a nice set of colours to have in the yard and I'm led to believe he is a wonderful man to train for.

“He has been associated with some fantastic horses over the last few years and hopefully we can have a nice one for him. They haven't come to me yet, but I'm told we will have three 2-year-old colts for him. They will all be in pre-training at the moment and come to us when they are ready.”

Adayar Co-Leader in Longines WBRR

G1 Cazoo Derby hero Adayar (Ire) (Frankel {GB}) has joined dual French Classic winner and G1 Coral-Eclipse hero St Mark's Basilica (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}) on top of the Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings. Both are now rated 127 after the Godolphin silksbearer won the G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth S.

Mishriff (Ire) (Make Believe {GB}), third behind St Mark's Basilica and Addeybb (Ire) (Pivotal {GB}) (121) in the Coral-Eclipse, moved up to a mark of 124 after running second to Adayar in the Goodwood feature. Palace Pier (GB) (Kingman {GB}) is in third at 125. Other horses ranked joined fourth with Mishriff are Australian sprinter Nature Strip (Aus) (Nicconi {Aus}) and GI Whitney S. hero Knicks Go (Paynter).

Four horses are a joint seventh at 122-triple Grade I winner Domestic Spending (GB) (Kingman {GB}), G1 Dubai World Cup scorer Mystic Guide (Ghostzapper), G1 QIPCO 2000 Guineas and G1 St James's Palace S. victor Poetic Flare (Ire) (Dawn Approach {Ire}) and the injured Group 1-winning stayer Subjectivist (GB) (Teofilo {Ire}). Another mover in the rankings is G1 Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby hero Hurricane Lane (Ire) (Frankel {GB}), who added the G1 Grand Prix de Paris and is now up one point to 121. The well-hyped Baaeed (GB) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) entered the rankings at 120 after his 6 1/2-length win in the G3 Bonhams Thoroughbred S. Starman (GB) (Dutch Art {GB}) is equal to that Shadwell colourbearer after a victory in the G1 Darley July Cup S., and improving filly Suesa (Ire) (Night of Thunder {Ire}) is also their equal after adding a group tally in the G2 King George Qatar S. Addeybb to Defend Champion S. Crown

Last year's G1 Champion S. winner Addeybb (Ire) (Pivotal {GB}) will return to Ascot to defend his crown in October, trainer William Haggas has announced. A winner of the G1 Ranvet S. and G1 Queen Elizabeth S. in Australia last year, the chestnut was second in the G1 Prince Of Wales's S. back in the UK last June, two starts prior to his Champion S. victory. Sent back to Australia in March, he was second in the Ranvet to Verry Elleegant (NZ) (Zed {NZ}) and then turned the tables on that rival in winning his second Queen Elizabeth on Apr. 17. He was second to St Mark's Basilica (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}) in the G1 Coral-Eclipse at Sandown on July 3.

The Newmarket trainer said, “It was great to win the Champion S. last year, fantastic. Addeybb was really on his game that day, too. If we can get him like that again that would be great.

“Right now he is in a field, but he will have a run before the Champion S. He was a little bit rusty in the Eclipse and the ground wasn't really slow enough for him, but I thought he ran well and he kept going up the hill as usual.”

King George Attracts Nine on Monday

Love, who is riding a four-race Group 1 winning streak, was a last out winner of the G1 Prince Of Wales's S. at Royal Ascot and is joined by fellow Coolmore partners' runners and top-shelf winners Broome (Ire) (Australia {GB}), Japan (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) and Mogul (GB) (Galileo {Ire}).

Godolphin's Adayar is not the only 3-year-old in the field, as G1 Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby second Lone Eagle (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) also steps forward for Martyn Meade.

Rounding out the nine are the globetrotting Group 1 winners Addeybb (Ire) (Pivotal {GB}) from the William Haggas yard, John and Thady Gosden trainee Mishriff (Ire) (Make Believe {GB}).

“I talked to John after Mishriff worked on Saturday and John was very happy with him,” said Ted Voute, racing manager for Prince Faisal on the $20-million Saudi Cup and G1 Dubai Sheema Classic scorer. “It has very much been left up to John where he runs next and, having discussed it with the Prince, Ascot looks the likely target.

“We want to win a Group 1 in England with Mishriff and you can't win one unless you run in them. He has beaten some very good horses from around the world and now is the time to see what he can do against the big battalions from England and Ireland in particular.”

The progressive dual Group 1-winning filly Wonderful Tonight (Fr) (Le Havre {Ire}) for David Menuisier. A notable absentee is G1 Coronation Cup victor Pyledriver (GB) (Harbour Watch {Ire}) who suffered a setback.
