Spendthrift Farm has set early-bird stud fees for the 2024 breeding season for Maximus Mischief, Mitole, Vino Rosso and Omaha Beach, who currently occupy the first, second, third and fifth places, respectively, on the 2023 first-crop sires list in North America.
Omaha Beach is available for $40,000 S&N following the early stakes success from his first 2-year-olds, which include six black type horses and four graded stakes horses – both a crop high – from 45 starters to date. His Breeders' Cup hopefuls include stakes winners Hot Beach and Omaha Girl as well as stakes-placed Triple Espresso.
Maximus Mischief, who has held the top spot on the first-crop sires list for much of the summer and early fall, is available for $25,000 S&N. The undefeated graded stakes-winning juvenile by leading sire Into Mischief currently has a crop-high two black type winners and 20 overall winners, with the latter leading all sires in North America.
Vino Rosso is quickly ascending on the first-crop sires list, following Grade 1-performing colts in all three major Grade 1 races for juvenile males last weekend. The Wine Steward was runner-up in the 1 1/16-mile Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland, Wine Me Up was runner-up in the 1 1/16-mile American Pharoah at Santa Anita, and Dancing Groom was third in the one-mile Champagne at Belmont, signaling that his 2-year-olds are rising to the top as the distances stretch out. All three colts are listed as contenders for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile next month at Santa Anita. The champion son of Curlin, Vino Rosso is currently available for $20,000 S&N.
Mitole, who currently sits No. 2 on the first-crop sires list, is available for $15,000 S&N. The champion has sired a crop-high two black type winners to date, led by 2-year-old filly V V's Dream, 8 ¾-length winner of Churchill's G3 Pocahontas and recent runner-up in Keeneland's G1 Alcibiades. V V's Dream is being pointed to next month's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies at Santa Anita. Last weekend, Mitole's 2-year-old colt Booth became a TDN Rising Star on debut at Keeneland, and the OBS October Sale commenced on Wednesday with a second-crop yearling by Mitole selling for a sale-topping $250,000 to Eddie Woods.
All stud fees are subject to change pending future results. For more information about any Spendthrift stallion, or to schedule an inspection, please contact Des, Mark, Brian, or Daniel at 859-294-0030.
