Saudi Cup Will Be Broadcast Live On TVG Saturday; Road To The Triple Crown Continues In Rebel

The $20 million Saudi Cup, the world's richest horse race, will be live on TVG on Saturday as defending Mishriff (IRE) squares off against thirteen rivals including 2021 Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Mandaloun and Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) heroine Marche Lorraine (JPN). The weekend coverage will also feature the $1 million Rebel Stakes (G2) from Oaklawn Park as part of the Road to the Triple Crown presented by Spendthrift Farm.

International expert Scott Hazelton will be joined by Adam McGrath with analysis of the full card from Riyadh's King Abdulaziz Racecourse. Races 6, 7 and 8 will all be designated as promotional Money Back Special races.

The Road to the Triple Crown presented by Spendthrift Farm will run through Hot Springs, Arkansas and TVG's Caton Bredar, Mike Joyce and Gabby Gaudet will be live trackside with exclusive interviews and expert analysis throughout the twelve-race card. The $1 million Rebel Stakes (G2) will offer 50-20-10-5 Kentucky Derby qualifying points to the top four finishers and serve as a local prep for the $1.25 million Arkansas Derby (G1) April 2.

The Rebel Stakes (G2) has drawn a field of eleven with Newgrange tabbed as the 9-5 morning line favorite for trainer Bob Baffert and jockey John Velazquez. His opposition includes Barber Road, the runner-up in the Southwest Stakes (G3) for trainer John Ortiz. Purchased for $15,000, the son of Race Day has won two of his six starts and will have Reylu Gutierrez aboard. The Rebel Stakes is also a Money Back Special race.

Oaklawn will also host a prep race for the Kentucky Oaks on Saturday – the $300,000 Honeybee Stakes (G3). D. Wayne Lukas will saddle the 3-2 favorite Secret Oath as she takes on five rivals. Secret Oath, a daughter of Arrogate was a runaway winner in the Martha Washington Stakes in her sophomore debut. Regular rider Luis Contreras will be aboard. The racing will continue at Gulfstream Park and Larry Collmus and Andie Biancone will be live with coverage presented by Runhappy throughout Saturday's twelve-race card which features the return of Eclipse Award winner Letruska in the $150,000 Royal Delta Stakes (G3). Jose Ortiz will be in the irons for Fausto Gutierrez as the 6-year-old mare makes her seasonal debut and tries to earn her 18th career victory. There will be a mandatory payout in the Rainbow Pick 6 on Saturday with a gross jackpot pool guaranteed for $1.35 million.
