Ike and Dawn Thrash's The Alys Look led a 1-2 finish in the $147,000 Silverbulletday Stakes for trainer Brad Cox on Saturday at Fair Grounds as she repelled a challenge from stablemate Chop Chop and earned her first stakes win in the test for 3-year-old fillies.
The daughter of Connect earned 20 points on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks with her one-length score under Luis Saez while covering one mile and 70 yards in 1:43.55 on a fast track.
The Cox-Saez team later combined to win the $200,000 Lecomte for 3-year-olds with Instant Coffee.
The Alys Look tracked pacesetter Hayunevano about a length back in second while 4-5 favorite and Grade 1-placed Chop Chop stalked from third. The Alys Look took charge into the far turn, but Chop Chop was ready to run and pair battled to midstretch before The Alys Look dug in to secure the win. She returned $6.60.
Chop Chop held for the runner-up spot while finishing 13½ lengths in front of third-place finisher Hayunevano.
The Alys Look was bred in Kentucky by G. Watts Humphrey Jr. from the Harlan's Holiday mare Foul Play. Her record improved to 2-1-1 from five starts and $150,528 in earnings.
