Regardless of her result in the Breeders' Cup Distaff at Keeneland at Nov. 5, plans call for likely champion 3-year-old filly Nest to return to the races next year at age four. Co-owner Mike Repole broke the news to the Daily Racing Form on Monday, just one day after the filly's 9 3/4-length win in the Grade 2 Beldame Stakes.
“We're not even going to put people on edge,” Repole told DRF. “She's racing at 4. She's so special. She's a Curlin [progeny]. This is now three [straight] wow performances. She's just getting better and better every start.”
Trained by Todd Pletcher, Nest has won five of her seven starts this year, including three Grade 1 races: the G1 Alabama (by 4 1/4 lengths), the G1 Coaching Club American Oaks (by 12 1/4 lengths), and the G1 Ashland (by 8 1/4 lengths). She also finished second in the G1 Kentucky Oaks and the G1 Belmont Stakes.
Overall, Nest's record stands at seven wins from 10 starts for earnings of $1,873,050.
