A pair of $75,000 stakes were held at Parx Racing on Tuesday, Dec. 3, which had originally been slated for 2-year-olds in the last week of 2022, but had to be postponed due to weather. The newly-turned 3-year-olds raced seven furlongs on a sloppy main track in Bensalem, Penn., fillies in the Parx Futurity and males in the Parx Juvenile.
Girl Trouble dominated the Parx Futurity by 5 1/4 lengths, her third straight win and fourth overall for trainer Robert Reid, Jr. She led nearly throughout and was in-hand late under jockey Paco Lopez.
Racing for Swilcan Stable LLC and LC Racing LLC, the New Jersey-bred daughter of Fast Anna completed the seven furlongs in 1:27.78. Girl Trouble, now an earner of $202,500 with four wins from seven starts, was a $15,000 purchase at the 2021 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Eastern Fall Yearling sale.
One race earlier, Recruiter remained undefeated through four starts when he won the Parx Juvenile by 2 3/4 lengths under Mychel Sanchez. Trained by Cathal Lynch for owners Nick Sanna Stables LLC & Lynch Racing LLC, the son of Army Mule completed seven furlongs in 1:26.75.
A $125,000 buy at last year's OBS June sale, Recruiter has now won two stakes races, one in Maryland and this one in Pennsylvania, for career earnings of $170,100.
