A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 yielded multiple payoffs of $313,299.84 Saturday at Gulfstream Park.
The Rainbow 6 had gone unsolved for 21 consecutive racing days since a July 31 mandatory payout, producing a jackpot pool of $588,559.89 heading into Saturday's mandatory payout. The popular multi-race wager generated an additional $3,572,394 in handle Saturday.
There were five 'singles' for the Race 12 Rainbow 6 finale, with (1) Unimpeached, (4) Kick in the Gas, (6) Uno Tiger, (7) Converter, and (8) Freelance all eligible to crack a multi-million jackpot with a victory.
Race 8 winner Jupiter Blues ($88.90) and Race 11 winner Starship Bonita ($71.80) fueled the healthy payoff.
The Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is usually only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool usually goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. However, on mandatory-payout days, the entire pool is paid out to the bettor or bettors with the most winners in the six-race sequence.
The Rainbow 6 will start anew on Sunday with a $100,000 jackpot pool guarantee. The popular multi-race wager's sequence will span Races 6-11.
The Late Pick-5 went unsolved Saturday, leaving a $140,079.77 carryover pool for Sunday's program. The Late Pick-5 sequence will span Races 7-11.
