Roaring Lion's sole crop will be seen on the racecourse for the first time this year and a lucky winner will have the unique opportunity to name a 2-year-old colt by the late world champion 3-year-old and 2018 Cartier Horse of the Year.
The colt by Roaring Lion out of Assembly (by Candy Ride) is in training with Joseph O'Brien and is one of 33 Qatar Racing-owned juveniles by Roaring Lion in training this season. The striking bay has an entry in the 2023 Epsom Derby, alongside 23 other colts by the four-time Group 1 winning stallion.
The competition winner will be selected by Sheikh Fahad, chairman of Qatar Racing, and David Redvers, Qatar Racing's racing manager and owner of Tweenhills. The prize will include two tickets for the opening day of the QIPCO Guineas Festival on Friday, April 29 2022.
David Redvers said:
“The colt out of Assembly was born at Tweenhills and has been a pleasure to watch him grow and progress at the farm. Like Roaring Lion himself he is a fantastic mover, a trait we have seen a lot of in his progeny. It is exciting to see how he develops now that he is in training with Joseph O'Brien.
“Roaring Lion was a very special horse for Sheikh Fahad, his brothers and the Qatar Racing operation and we look forward to seeing his sole crop on the track this year.
“The name should reflect Roaring Lion's legacy and the colt's high-quality pedigree. We look forward to going through the entries. Fingers crossed – you could be naming a future champion.”
