Jockey Ruben Silvera rode the 1,000th winner of his career at Parx Racing in Bensalem, Penn., on Tuesday. Silvera rode Angelus Warrior to the milestone victory in the 6th race for trainer Jamie Ness and owners Madison Avenue Racing Stable Inc. & Jagger Inc.
The Panama native is currently leading the Parx jockey standings by a healthy margin of 30 victories, according to Equibase.
Though he has not won quite as many races this year (175 thus far) as he did in 2021 (225), Silvera has posted his best-ever year by earnings with a total of $5,932,361 through Monday's card.
A contemporary of Luis Saez in Panama where they attended the country's jockey school, Silvera rode his first U.S. race at Gulfstream Park, finishing fourth with Great Bear March 24, 2011. He picked up his first winner aboard Power Rules on May 7, 2011, at Calder Race Course.
Equibase statistics show Silvera with 1,000 wins and over $30 million in purse earnings from just over 6,700 career mounts.
