Shedaresthedevil Runs Away With Indiana Oaks

Flurry Racing Stables, Qatar Racing Limited, and Big Aut Farms' Shedaresthedevil pulled off a convincing win in Wednesday evening's Grade 3 Indiana Oaks, dominating her rivals by five lengths as the 3-5 post time favorite. Trained by Brad Cox and ridden by Florent Geroux, Shedaresthedevil ran 1 1/16 miles over Indiana Grand's fast main track in 1:43.50.

The 3-year-old daughter of Daredevil earned 20 more points on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks, bringing her total points to 90, good for third on the leaderboard.

“She's a real sound filly,” said Cox. “We've had her since last November. She's just been spot on ever sense. She gives you a solid work every week, whatever you're looking for. She's a race horse. Very, very proud of her. i think she's only going to get better with more distance and maybe even when she gets older.  She ran early as a 2-year-old. She's just a good filly. She really is.”

Miss T Too set the early fractions while Florent Geroux kept Shedaresthedevil in a clear second, about a length behind the leader. Shedaresthedevil drew even around the far turn and had a two-length advantage at the head of the lane. Geroux had to give the filly a couple of reminders down the lane when she appeared to be waiting on rivals, but Shedaresthedevil pulled away to win by five lengths on the wire.

“We expected her to run well,” Cox said. “She'd been training the part out of her last race at Churchill, where she ran a big race. It was a good trip, she responded well. I thought she looked great at the quarter pole. Florent had to kind of reach around and keep her alert the last sixteenth of a mile. He said she kind of got a little lost late. But when he asked her the last sixteenth, she really kicked on. Overall it was a big effort, exactly what we were looking for. I was real pleased with her.”

The pace-stalking Impeccable Style checked in second, while Bayerness was third. Fire Coral finished fourth.

Bred in Kentucky by WinStar Farm, Shedaresthedevil is out of the Congrats mare Starship Warpspeed. Graded stakes-placed as a juvenile, the filly brought $280,000 at the 2019 Keeneland November sale. For her new connections, Shedaresthedevil has now won two Grade 3 races, improving her overall record to 4-2-2 from nine starts for earnings of over $500,000.

“She's got enough points to get in (to the Kentucky Oaks),” Cox said when asked about the filly's next start. “I won't say we'll make it easy on her, but as easy on her as we can to try to get her into the Oaks the best way and get her there with some confidence.”

Aztec’s Treasure Slot Machine

Aztec’s Treasure is a 5-Reel progressive slot machine that’s based off of an Aztec theme-hence the name. If you’re up for a bit of prospecting for the mythical lost gold, this might be the progressive slot machine for you.

With Aztec’s Treasure you can have fun or really go for the big jackpot. There are 20 lines on this progressive slot machine. Before spinning, you can select how many lines to play-as low as one line. If you’re not going to play all 20 lines, which is the machine’s default position, you need to know that you must play them in sequential order.

So, if you wanted to play just three lines, you’d be playing line one, two and three. You can’t do them out of order, like four, six and eight. There are ten lines on each side of the machine. To give you an example, line one is in the 6th position on the left, while line two is on the second position on the left. Line three is on the 9th position on the left and so on. All numbers 10 and under are on the left, while all numbers 11-20 are on the right.

Aztec’s Treasure has the following betting denominations: 1 cent, 2 cents, nickel, quarter, 50 cents, one dollar and five dollars. So, you can bet up to $100 per spin if you want.

This progressive slot machine also has an auto play feature. While I don’t consider this fun, you might. Just put your money in, click on auto play and kick back until you want to stop. The game will keep playing until you run out of money or you stop it. I can just imagine clicking this feature with $500 in the machine, getting a phone call, forgetting about the machine and coming back to see $0.

Aztec’s Treasure has multiple bonuses throughout the game. The Aztec King shows up on Reels 2, 3 and 4. He’s like a wild symbol. Except for Idols, he substitutes as any symbol. The Idols appear here and there.

The Jackpot is random and it can be won at the end of each spin. It doesn’t matter what denomination you are playing either. It’s a nice little twist. If you’re looking for huge jackpots ($50,000+), this isn’t your slot machine. But, if you want the ability to pick up $1,000 or so at the end of any spin, Aztec’s Treasure will be a great time for you.

This slot machine has many ways to win-especially with all 20 lines going. Therefore, the maximum you can win is 40,000 times you wager per line. So, if you’re playing 25 cents per line, you can win up to $10,000 on any one spin.

Aztec’s Treasure is a fun machine. Give it a spin sometime.

American Pharoah’s Maven too Fast for Them at Keeneland

8th-Keeneland, $79,935, Alw, 7-8, 3yo, 5 1/2fT, 1:03.02, gd.
MAVEN (c, 3, American Pharoah–Richies Party Girl {MSW, $357,085}, by Any Given Saturday), the less fancied of a pair of Wesley Ward runners at 3-1, turned this event into a one-horse affair for a barn that wins more than its fair share of sprints on the Lexington lawn. A debut winner while earning a strong 84 Beyer Speed Figure in April of his 2-year-old season, the chestnut traveled overseas to annex Chantilly’s G3 Prix du Bois that June. He had been off since finishing 10th in Goodwood’s G3 Molecomb S. July 31, but showed some upbeat drills over the local turf for this. Hard ridden to seize command early, Maven doled out an opening quarter of :21.62 as his stakes-winning female stablemate Cambria (Speightstown) was forced to take up sharply around the turn. Maven continued into the lane unopposed and, despite never switching leads, streaked home 2 3/4 lengths to the good of of big longshot Johnny Unleashed (Colonel John). Cambria never recovered from the trouble and checked in 10th. The winner is the lone registered foal out of Richies Party Girl, who took the 2013 Juvenile Turf Sprint on Breeders’ Cup weekend and added two more turf sprint stakes the following season. Sales history: £725,000 RNA 2yo ’19 GOFLON. Lifetime Record: GSW-Fr, 4-3-0-0, $143,488.  Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.

First Winner For Claiborne Farm’s Runhappy Comes At Indiana Grand

Runhappy, the most heavily-promoted stallion in America, sired his first winner as the 2-year-old Libertyrun rolled to a 6 1/4-length victory in Wednesday's fourth race at Indiana Grand Racing and Casino.

James McIngvale — the Houston furniture magnate and philanthropist known as Mattress Mack — has invested mightily to advertise Runhappy, his 2015 champion sprinter who is a stallion at famed Claiborne Farm. As it turns out, McIngvale got a little piece of his investment back as the owner and breeder of Libertyrun.

“That's the first Runhappy winner, and in Mack's silks as a matter of fact,” said Kelly Wohlers, who serves as assistant to trainer Laura Wohlers, McIngvale's sister in law. The Wohlers oversee McIngvale's racing operation and were very involved in training Runhappy. “So, we're very proud of him. Very happy for Mack.”

Libertyrun — carrying McIngvale's blue, white and red silks to victory four days after Independence Day — was exceedingly professional in his racing debut, breaking from post 12 to press the early pace from the outside and then cruising away in the stretch.

“He's not a very big horse, but he is very professional,” said jockey Miguel Mena. “He came out of the gate great. When we got to the stretch, he had his ears pricked and I hit him once and he took off running. I hit him one more time and he continued on again. I think he is a very nice horse.”

There have been four other 2-year-olds to race so far from Runhappy's first crop, which has 69 named foals.

McIngvale is known for his Texas-sized promotions and charitable works. For instance, he opened up his Gallery Furniture showrooms as shelters in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Harvey. He also received worldwide publicity with his “Win It All” promotion where customers who had purchased mattresses or bases totaling at least $3,000 would get their money back if the Houston Astros won baseball's World Series. Those Gallery Furniture consumers cashed in on the Astros' 2017 championship and lost in seven games last year. (Mattress Mack made headlines there by wagering millions through sports books to hedge his bet.)

McIngvale is every bit as enthusiastic in promoting Runhappy by sponsoring stakes and race meets around the country. There also is a $100,000 bonus if a horse sired by Runhappy wins an open maiden race at Belmont Park, Saratoga, Del Mar or Kentucky Downs this summer.

Asked how much his boss has put into promoting Runhappy, Kelly Wohlers said, “Tons. I'm very emotional right now. It's absolutely wonderful.

“He loves to train,” he said of Libertyrun. “He's a very nice athlete. He's got Runhappy's mind, but he's got a little more pep in his step. Runhappy had pep in his step when he got to the paddock. But this horse is all the time on go. He loves what he does.”

Libertyrun, who was born in Louisiana, likely will be pointed to a stakes for Louisiana-bred 2-year-olds, Kelly Wohlers said, though he didn't rule out Ellis Park's $100,000 Runhappy Juvenile on Aug. 9.
