Owner-trainer Jeffrey Englehart was suspended for 10 days by Belmont Park stewards June 17 and fined $1,000 following a finding of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication phenylbutazone (Bute) in a post-race sample from Profusion after he competed April 8 in the fourth race at Aqueduct.
Profusio, who finished fifth of six runners as the even-money favorite in the $14,000 claiming race, has been disqualified and purse money redistributed.
The 5-year-old son of Pioneerof the Nile, owned by Robert Photos, subsequently won a $5,000 claiming race June 8 at Finger Lakes.
Englehart waived his right to appeal, according to the ruling posted on the New York State Gaming Commission website. He is to serve his suspension from June 22-July 1, 2022.
