Next Takes TAA Stakes Wire To Wire

Next took his first graded stakes win in decisive fashion in the Grade 2 Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Stakes on the Breeders' Cup undercard at Keeneland Nov. 4. Piloted by Luan Machado, the big gray took command out of the gate in the 1 5/8-mile contest and never looked back, galloping easily in early going and putting on a late surge to leave no doubts.

Heywoods Beach was second, and Bel Harbour was third. Favored Rattle N Roll was fourth.

Next posted a final time of 2:42.59 over a fast track and paid $12.50 to win.

The William Cowans trainee came to the race off a win in the Cape Henlopen at Delaware Park on Sept. 8 and has three wins from six starts this year. He was the winner of last year's War Chant Stakes.

Next is owned by Michael Foster and was bred in Kentucky by Silverton Hill. He is by Not This Time out of Awesome Again mare Bahia Beach.
