Charles Town in West Virginia canceled the final five races of its Thursday night card after weather conditions continued to deteriorate throughout the evening.
Over an inch and a half of rain and near freezing temperatures hit the Charles Town area on Thursday, and after consulting with riders following the completion of the fourth race, the decision was made to cancel the remainder of the card out of an abundance of caution.
Thursday's card was set to feature a carryover of $20,541.60 in the Pick 5. That carryover will now roll over to Friday's sequence, which begins in the fifth race. Friday will also present the final opportunity to take down the Charles Town 6-12 jackpot – which currently sits at $23,428 – before the jackpot is forced out on Saturday, Dec. 17, the final night of live racing on the 2022 Charles Town racing calendar.
Friday's nine-race card begins at its standard first race post time of 7:00 p.m. ET.
