Mike Brown, bloodstock consultant and the publisher of Racing Update and Fax Trax passed away peacefully Oct. 29, 2020, according to his family. Brown, best-known for his wit and love of international racing and breeding, was an early contributor to the TDN, providing the same-day auction information that went into the creation of the first versions of the TDN’s Insta-Tistics. Brown was also associated with the leading Irish bloodstock agent Brian Grassick and the Tattersalls Sales Company. Brown was a longtime member of the Keeneland Association and the Thoroughbred Club of America. He graduated from Woodberry Forest School and Washington & Lee University with a B.A. in History. He is survived by his sister, Rebecca, and his nephew, Henry Bryant. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington, Kentucky. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial will be scheduled at a later date.
