Mandatory Payouts, 11 Races Carded For Sunday’s Closing Day At Golden Gate Fields

Eleven races have been carded for the final day of live racing at the 2022 Summer Meet this Sunday, Oct. 2, at Golden Gate Fields in Berkeley, Calif. First post on Closing Day is 12:45 PM.

Mandatory payouts will be in play on Sunday. The Golden Pick Six, which starts in Race 6 and runs through Race 11, is a 20-cent minimum bet and is expected to attract a strong six figure new money pool. Heading into Friday's card, the jackpot carryover amount sits at $17,761, and will be bigger by Sunday if there fails to be a single winning jackpot ticket in the next two racing days. Before scratches on Sunday, 56 horses are entered throughout the Pick 6 sequence, averaging out to over 9 horses per race.

Both Pick 5 sequences are also mandatory payout wagers. The Early Pick 5, which features the first five races on the program, is a low 14% takeout wager. The Late Pick 5 consists of the last five races on the card and, like the early sequence, is a 50-cent minimum bet.

The last Rolling Super High Five bet on Sunday is the final wager which has a mandatory payout. For there to be a Rolling Super High Five wager in a particular race, that race must have 7 or more starters. Race 11 (with 8 entrants) will feature the mandatory Rolling High Five payout unless there are two or more scratches, in which case the mandatory payout would be moved to Race 10.

A strong group of race days has been assembled for Closing Week of the Fall Meet. Friday features 8 races with first post set for 1:45 PM. 10 races made the overnight for Saturday, which kicks off at 12:45 PM. Throughout this week, the last two races on each card at Golden Gate are part of the Golden Hour Pick 4 and Golden Hour Double wagers, back in action with the resumption of live racing at Santa Anita.
