Macadamia Strikes For First U.S. Grade 1 Win In Gamely

R Unicorn Stable's Macadamia dispatched Queen Goddess in the stretch and held off a determined late bid from Quattroelle to win the $400,000 Gamely (G1) Monday at Santa Anita.

A multiple Group 1 winner in her native Brazil, the 5-year-old Hat Trick mare was following up on her last-out Wilshire Stakes (G3) victory April 30 at Santa Anita and landed her first U.S. win at the highest level in the Gamely.

Ridden by Tiago Pereira for trainer Phil D'Amato, Macadamia ($14.40) scored by about 1 1/2 lengths from Quattroelle. She covered 1 1/8 miles in 1:48.01 on firm turf while earning her fifth win from 13 career starts.

Queen Goddess finished third.

Bred by Haras Springfield, Macadamia was produced by the Northern Afleet mare Une Autre Etoile.
