The victim of an alleged domestic violence incident has filed a lawsuit against trainer Chad Brown in the New York Supreme Court in Saratoga County, reports The Daily Gazette.
According to local reporting of the incident from August of 2022, Brown is accused of pushing a female victim down a stairway, pinning her to the floor and choking her before pushing her out of the house. Brown said the woman broke into his residence and he was defending himself.
Brown was arraigned on Aug. 18 on a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of breathing and posted bail after pleading not guilty. On Nov. 14, he avoided trial by agreeing to a reduced charge of harassment in the second degree, a violation, and Brown was ordered to stay arrest-free for a year and is subject to a two-year order of protection that prohibits him from contacting the alleged victim.
This lawsuit seeks compensation for the alleged victim's injuries and emotional pain, as well as medical costs and lost income. The amount of damages sought exceeds the jurisdictional limits of lower courts, so the lawsuit was elevated to the Supreme Court.
Specifically, the lawsuit alleges that Brown “intentionally attacked her, physically violently assaulting, battering, pushing, and striking her,” pushed her down a flight of stairs, choked the plaintiff and pushed her “violently out the front door.”
