The Maryland Jockey Club announced today it will play host to nine $100,000 stakes races on Labor Day Weekend, including the Federico Tesio, a 'Win and In' for the Preakness Stakes (G1), the Weber City, a 'Win and In' for the Black-Eyed Susan (G2), and three stakes on the turf at Laurel Park.
Laurel will run an additional seven days in August and September due to the Maryland State Fair withdrawing their application to run this year.
The races on Monday, Sept. 7 will include the Tesio for 3-year-olds and Weber City Miss for 3-year-old fillies, and three races on the turf – the Henry Clark and Laurel Dash for 3-year-olds and up, and the All Along for fillies and mares.
There will be four $100,000 stakes on Saturday, Sept. 5. The Polynesian and Deputed Testimony for 3-year-olds and up, and the Alma North and Twixt for fillies and mares.
Laurel resumes live racing this week Thursday afternoon with a 12:40 first race post.
